Audemars Piguet Royal Oak: An Elegant Knight Transcending the Middle Ages

On 1651 9 3, during the Battle of Worcester, Charles II, who was not yet officially crowned King of England, saw his Scottish army completely routed by Cromwell's forces. Fleeing for his life with pursuers close behind, he discovered an oak tree with a hollow trunk and hastily hid inside. Having evaded capture, Charles II returned years later to become the King of England, and in commemoration and gratitude, he named this ancient oak tree the "Royal Oak". Since then, the Royal Oak became a symbol of the god of war and the mascot of the British army. In the early hours of 1939 10 15, the British Royal Navy battleship HMS Royal Oak was mysteriously torpedoed and sunk, becoming the first British battleship lost in the Second World War. This explosion occurred two years before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, resulting in 833 deaths.
As the smoke of battle cleared and peace returned, the legendary watch designer Gérald Genta drew inspiration in 1972 from the portholes of the ship Royal Oak, creating the epoch-making masterpiece, the Royal Oak. It is fair to say that the octagonal design, sharply faceted exterior, and exquisite finishing, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak collectionhave become synonymous with the AP brand, securing its undefeated position in today's fiercely competitive watch industry.

Gold has always and everywhere symbolised nobility and luxury. Its enduring value and the captivating charm it radiates make this metal the most common material for jewellery. When gold is fused with the two aristocratic elements of the AP Royal Oak, the dazzling radiance it emits is bound to be a bombshell in the watchmaking world.

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Series 15202OR.OO.1240OR.01
Following the trend of rose gold, AP announces the return of the golden age this year, pairing its Royal Oak with timeless yellow gold. Combined with the characteristically sharp contours and meticulously detailed case finishing, it seems to recount the ancient and profound story of the Royal Oak. In today's complex world where the nobility gradually fades, the aristocratic spirit endures, and the Royal Oak watch resembles a knight travelling through the Middle Ages—possessing sharp contours and warm, bright eyes, loyal to his master, and forever guarding a noble spirit of courage and responsibility at all times.
