The sports watch for the wealthy and stylish—Audemars Piguet Royal Oak
An avant-garde safe-style case, a resolute and sharp octagonal bezel, eight hexagonal securing screws, a clearly visible water-resistant gasket, and a dial engraved with "Grande Tapisserie" large three-dimensional square pattern decoration. Even without the logo, the highly recognisableAudemars Piguet Royal Oak watchcan also be recognised at a glance.

In 1972, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak challenged traditional norms with four "iconoclastic" design features: a stainless steel case, an octagonal bezel, a "TAPISSERIE" patterned dial, and a bracelet integrated with the case. It shocked the entire watchmaking world with the image of an avant-garde luxury sports watch. Decades later, todaythe Audemars Piguet Royal Oak collectionhas become the most successful top-tier sports watch in the haute horlogerie sector. With its robust, sporty, and stylish design alongside its high-end image, it has become a cherished plaything for young affluent individuals.

The unique design of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak series comes from the hand of Gérald Genta, with the original intention of creating a high-end sports watch with a reliable waterproof case and an aesthetically pleasing appearance. At that time (the nineteen-sixties and seventies), the traditional Swiss watchmaking industry did not yet have the positioning or concept of a high-end sports watch. On 10/11/1972, Audemars Piguet applied for a Swiss patent CH559929 for this uniquely designed octagonal case, with patent rights extending to the United States, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Japan. Since then, this practical and aesthetically balanced design has become a classic, continuing for over 40 years and remaining deeply loved by watch enthusiasts.

In 1977, Audemars Piguet combined the Royal Oak collection with yellow gold, introducing the first Royal Oak watch crafted in yellow gold. Subsequently, Audemars Piguet developed the Royal Oak into a complete collection, utilising different materials and equipping various distinct or complicated functions to meet the diverse needs of customers.
In 1993, Audemars Piguet introduced the Royal Oak Offshore collection of watches. Compared to the Royal Oak,the Royal Oak Offshore(Offshore) features a larger dial, predominantly consists of chronographs, and possesses shock-resistant functions. It exudes a bolder, more masculine sporting character, making it a true gentleman's watch and a dream timepiece for many watch fans, sought after for its distinctive temperament and extreme sporty style.
