Winners of the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève announced, TAG Heuer CARRERA 1887 chronograph takes the prize

As one of the most prestigious watch competitions in the SwissWatchindustry,TAG Heuer CarreraCarrera 1887 chronograph winning the best watch award is truly well-deserved. At this momentous milestone of TAG Heuer's 150 anniversary, it has also won acclaim through its superior watchmaking technology and avant-garde design philosophy, marking the sixth time in nearly 10 years that TAG Heuer has received this award.

TAG Heuer President and CEO Jean-Christophe Babin stated at the event: For TAG Heuer and our Honorary Chairman, Mr Jack Heuer, this is a magnificent victory. In fact, many of TAG Heuer's classics were created by Jack; the Monaco, the Silverstone, and of course the Carrera, all shine with his guiding light. From 1964 when he designed the first Carrera wristwatch, every subsequent generation has benefited from his meticulous attention. The 1887 chronograph is designed precisely to carry forward this illustrious history. As a great classic (Grand Classique) redesigned specially for TAG Heuer's 150 anniversary, the Carrera 1887 chronograph stays faithful to the original design ethos while housing TAG Heuer's latest "engine"—the Calibre 1887 movement—making it a masterpiece that surpasses the original in appearance, quality, performance and precision.

Jack Heuer commented: "The TAG Heuer Carrera 1887 chronograph symbolises TAG Heuer's excellence in mechanical movements and case manufacturing. We spent three years intently designing and developing the new movement within our fully integrated watchmaking workshop, using advanced Swiss equipment and machinery to carry out various stamping, turning and polishing processes precise to the micron. This first-class technology is precisely what has helped us create a true in-house movement at a highly advantageous cost—perfectly embodying TAG Heuer's renowned philosophy of 'reasonable cost / fair price'."

All production processes for the Carrera 1887 chronograph are completed in advanced workshops in Switzerland.

As its core component, the Calibre 1887 movement is a new, modern mechanical chronograph movement produced in-house by TAG Heuer. We do not strive merely to be different, but rather to improve efficiency, continuing the countless classics of the Carrera tradition.
