Introduction to the French watch brand Cartier

Article ArchivePublished
Cartier: jeweller to kings, king of jewellers.

With a history spanning one hundred and fifty years, Cartier has written a glorious chapter in the history of peerless and exquisite jewellery and timepieces. The name Cartier is as dazzling and brilliant as its gems, glowing with an unyielding radiance.

In 1847, Louis-François Cartier took over the workshop of his master Adolphe Picard in Paris, immediately astonishing the royal court with innovative coloured gemstone accessories. He not only won praise from Napoleon III but also gained renown across Europe, spreading as far as Russia, India and South America. King Edward VII commissioned him to create twenty-seven tiaras for his coronation, praising him as the jeweller to kings, king of jewellers, and multiple European royal houses issued him royal warrants.

Cartier is not only a brilliantly talented designer but also possesses a meticulous mind, continually exploring techniques. The Mystery Clock is a stunning masterpiece of gem-setting, pushing the increasingly declining watchmaking craft into a new era. Today, every Cartier watch uses Swiss movements, standing as the ultimate combination of creativity and technology.

The Cartier Tank Française watch possesses a captivating diamond allure. The small model Tank Française watch features a yellow gold or white gold case, set with two dazzling rows of diamonds, making it a finely crafted, luxurious diamond watch. The Tank Française watch combines classical elegance with a modern bold spirit, suitable for various occasions. The large model Tank Française watch is set with two radiant rows of diamonds. The Cartier Tank Française symbolises mythical heroic legends, and is available in both yellow gold and white gold models. Today, the Cartier Tank Française watch continues to perpetuate its alluring charm.

Deeply captivated by the agile and fascinating panther during a trip to Africa, Louis Cartier designed a panther-shaped bracelet made of diamonds, onyx and emeralds for the Duchess of Windsor in 1940. Since then, the panther motif has become Cartier's mascot. Using rich imagination, Cartier's master jewellers have effortlessly reflected the elegant and graceful lines of the panther in the Panthère jewellery watch collection.

Featuring a unified style and unique design, Cartier luxury watches are minimalist yet stylish, with clear yet unrigid lines and an elegance that is never overly complicated, always allowing you to fall in love at first sight. The unisex, practical design is suited to all types of wearers and different occasions, making you feel as though you are always in step with time, and that you are the master of time. This is also an important reason behind the success of Cartier watches. In 1938, Queen Elizabeth appeared before the world wearing the world's smallest bracelet watch designed for her by Cartier, from which point onwards Cartier watches gained worldwide renown.
