Patek Philippe Celebrates Over a Decade in China

In       2005, Patek Philippe opened on the Bund in Shanghai, marking its official entry into the Chinese market; in 2015, as an independent, family-owned Swiss watch manufacture with a heritage spanning 176 years, Patek Philippe celebrated the momentous occasion of its tenth anniversary in China.

       During this remarkable ten-year journey, Patek Philippe has striven tirelessly to communicate ten core values to watch enthusiasts in China. From the opening of the two Patek Philippe Houses in China, the Shanghai Maison and Beijing Maison, to the inauguration of the service centre and training centre, Patek Philippe has progressively consolidated its image in China, conveying the aesthetic principles embodied in the art of Patek Philippe watchmaking, exquisite craftsmanship, peerless hospitality, and industry-renowned customer relationship maintenance and after-sales service to every visiting Chinese friend.

       As a decade passes, let us look back at the momentous milestones of profound significance over the past ten years through a chronicle of events.

2005

       Patek Philippe established its first boutique and service centre in China at Three on the Bund (Bund 18), marking Patek Philippe's formal entry into the Chinese market. This was Patek Philippe's first boutique in Asia at the time, and the third globally after Geneva and Paris.

 

 

 

 

2006

       Patek Philippe presented the major grand watch exhibition “The Values of a Family Watch Company” in China. Nearly 300 exceptional timepieces and 67 precious pieces from the Patek Philippe Museum collection were showcased to a vast audience of watch enthusiasts for the first time.

 

 

2008

       The Patek Philippe Beijing boutique and service centre opened at Qianmen 23, and launched its first China limited edition commemorative watch Ref.5296 for the first time, limited to 28 pieces, each engraved with a unique limited edition number and the words “BEIJING 2008”.

2010

       In 9, Patek Philippe celebrated its fifth anniversary in China and officially announced the launch of the Shanghai Maison project. It introduced the first individually numbered China commemorative watch Ref.5399, with 25 pieces issued in white gold and rose gold respectively.

2012

       The Patek Philippe Shanghai boutique has relocated from Bund eighteen to the Bund Source in Shanghai. After nearly two years of design and decoration, it has been grandly unveiled as the “Maison Patek Philippe”. The term “Yuan” (Source) is derived from its new location at the “Bund Source”, which is the starting point of Shanghai's history as a trading port, carrying the meaning of “beginning”. As the former site was the residence of the British Consul General in Shanghai, the term “Di” (Mansion) was chosen to continue this legacy, symbolising nobility and prestige. The name “Maison” signifies that Patek Philippe is upholding its Geneva traditions while opening a new chapter in China. To mark the occasion, a Shanghai Maison commemorative World Time watch Ref.5130 has been launched, featuring the red “Shanghai” inscription to mark the UTC+eight time zone, with each of the white gold and rose gold versions limited to 25 pieces.

       At the same time, the Shanghai service centre relocated to Yifeng Galleria, Bund Source, occupying an independent space of nearly 1,000 square metres, accommodating customer reception, watch repair and maintenance, and final inspection, with all equipment and environment set up according to uniform Geneva standards.

2013

       In 9, the Patek Philippe Training Centre was officially inaugurated in Shanghai. This is the first watchmaker training institution established by Patek Philippe outside its Geneva workshops, designed to cultivate outstanding local watchmakers and testifying to the brand's commitment and continuous investment in customer service.

In 5  ,      , the Patek Philippe Maison in Beijing reopened at its original site at Qianmen 23, featuring a fully upgraded Beijing customer service centre alongside the launch of the Calatrava Officer's limited edition commemorative watch Ref.5153, with 25 pieces each available in white gold and yellow gold.

Following the design of the Geneva Salon, the ground floor reception area creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere with circular sofas, bronze sculptures and crystal chandeliers.

Year 2015

        launched the Calatrava men's commemorative watch for the tenth anniversary in China Ref.6000, with 25 pieces each in white gold and rose gold; the women's watch Ref.4897, with 10 pieces each in white gold and rose gold; the Rare Handcrafts men's watch Ref.5089, limited to 10 pieces in white gold; and the women's watch Ref.5077/100, limited to 5 pieces in rose gold.

        At the same time, Patek Philippe brought its musical tradition to China, continuing to sponsor the Shanghai International Youth Orchestra and providing a stage for music-loving teenagers to showcase their musical talents, hosting three “ Heritage ” series concerts. This musical tradition is bound to continue in China.

It offers an in-depth review of Patek Philippe's development over the past decade in China, alongside its outstanding expertise and craftsmanship. Meanwhile, Patek Philippe will also hold a series of tenth anniversary events to celebrate a decade of legacy and look forward to future journeys.
