Blancpain releases new theme short film 'Artisan & Craftsmanship' for an up-close look at top-tier Swiss watchmaking

　　Rolling Jura mountains, lush ancient forests, shimmering lakes, and scattered villages and farms—what you are overlooking is the Vallée de Joux, known as the 'Watch Valley'.

　　Deep in the valley, heading to one of the 10 villages, Le Brassus, you will find the world's oldest watch brand—Blancpain watchgrand complication workshop. Pushing open the doors, remarkable masters are immersed in their work, polishing exceptionally precise movements or employing the most magnificent and intricate traditional artistic crafts to decorate the watches. In recent 300 years, Blancpain's watchmakers have been working tirelessly in the workshop. Complications for high-end mechanical watches, such as carrousels, tourbillons, minute repeaters, and traditional Chinese calendars, are all crafted here. Complex crafts like gold engraving, enamelling, damascening, and shakudo are also gathered under one roof, making Blancpain one of the few watch brands capable of completing all these processes independently.

　　Why is it that such an environment can nurture this kind of watchmaking industry? Why is it that a family of herders and farmers can produce craftsmen of this calibre? Blancpain cultural ambassador Leung Man-tao visits three of Blancpain's Swiss master watchmakers with these questions in mind, joining us to discover the stories behind their craftsmanship.

　　We often see the works of these master watchmakers, but even if you visit the Blancpain workshop in the Joux Valley, it is difficult to meet all three masters in person at once. In this short film, accompanied by Mr Leung Man-tao, we can not only admire the creation process of the masters, but also listen to their stories beyond watchmaking...
