What is a telemeter watch?

Telemeter functionality is one of the features found on certain watches, but what does it actually mean? Let us find out together below.

　　Watch telemeter

A watch telemeter measures the distance between a specific event and the wearer. By using the speed of sound to determine the distance from a particular point to the wearer, much like a tachymeter, it comprises a stopwatch and a set of measurement scales, typically located on the outer edge of the dial. A telemeter can also measure the distance between a storm and the wearer. You start the stopwatch when you see lightning and stop it when you hear thunder, and the numbers on the dial will indicate the distance between the storm and the wearer.

　　Watch tachymeter

The most common calculation scale system in chronographs, usually positioned on the outermost periphery of the dial or on the outer bezel of the case. The core principle is: given a known unit of distance, such as 1 kilometres or 1 miles, when a moving object begins to travel within this distance, the start function of the chronograph is engaged. Once the unit distance is covered, the stop button is pressed, and the speed of the object corresponds to the scale indicated by the hand. If the scale system features a single-circle design and the object's speed is below 60 kilometres per hour, the tachymeter becomes ineffective; tachymeters with spiral scales do not encounter this issue. Generally, watches with a stopwatch function have numbers decreasing sequentially such as 500/400/350 engraved on the outer bezel. These represent physical quantities of speed in kilometres per hour, and this bezel is called a TACHYMETER (tachymeter scale). For example, the average speed of a car over a fixed distance of one kilometre or one mile. Taking the vehicle speed measurement method as an example, when the car moves past a roadside milestone as a reference point, the timer is activated. When the car reaches the next milestone point, the timer is stopped, and the position where the timer hand rests on the tachymeter scale indicates the vehicle's speed in miles or kilometres per hour. For instance, if 1000 metres take 45 seconds, it can be converted to a vehicle speed of 80 kilometres per hour.

　　Precautions for watch usage

1, avoid bringing the watch close to magnetic clasps

Regardless of the model or high value, Noob factory watches are vulnerable to magnetic fields. For mechanical watches, the movement is the most susceptible to magnetic interference; while quartz watches do not have as many steel components, they are still significantly affected. Regarding this issue, men in particular should note not to place their watches near belt buckles, while women should keep their watches away from magnetic clasps on handbags.

2, wearing the watch while bathing or swimming

Although some replica watches from the N-factory can be worn while diving, they are in the minority. Standard watches can be worn while washing, but they cannot withstand prolonged immersion. Therefore, please do not wear your watch while swimming or bathing, and certainly do not take it into a sauna; the high temperatures will cause the watch to oxidise.

3, never taking it to a professional service centre for maintenance.

Watches are items subject to wear and tear. To ensure a longer lifespan, they must be taken to after-sales service for professional maintenance and servicing. As for how often maintenance is required, please consult the after-sales staff.
