A Mythical Journey: Summary of Piaget Creations at 2015 Watches and Wonders

      As the National Day fireworks over Victoria Harbour faded, the third “ Watches and Wonders ” Asian Haute Horlogerie Exhibition also drew to a close. This time, the famous Swiss luxury watchmaker Piaget arrived in Hong Kong with the new Limelight Stella and Secrets & Lights collections, blending precious materials, complications, and exquisite craftsmanship to present a mythical journey of poetic treasures.

       Limelight Stella is Piaget's first complication watch collection dedicated exclusively to women. The 18K rose gold case, with a diameter of 36 mm, cleverly incorporates an oval curve, which, set against the sunburst finish and slender golden baton hour hands, weaves into a fluid and bold composition. The white dial is paired with 18K rose gold hour markers, and the moon phase display is adorned with 14 round brilliant-cut diamonds (weighing approximately 0.06 carats). The central seconds sub-dial and the moon phase display at 12 o'clock face each other; a star on the large seconds hand shines brightly, adding delicate beauty to the celestial sky of alternating sun and moon on the wrist.

       Equipped with the Calibre 584P automatic mechanical movement, designed, developed, and produced in-house by Piaget, it features hours, minutes, seconds, and moon phase displays. Under the sapphire crystal case back, the circular satin-brushing, bevelled bridges, Côtes de Genève, blued screws, and the Piaget coat of arms on the rose-gold rotor are clearly visible. In addition, this watch is also available in 18K rose gold and 18K white gold versions.

       Watchmakers have captured the colours and vitality of Samarkand with masterful techniques, embodying the creative paradigm that Piaget has continuously refined over the years. The dial of the G0A40560 watch is adorned with a celestial map, where an artistic dialogue between enamel colouring and line engraving unfolds; time, the firmament, and the earth compose a beautiful poem on the dial, blooming as the first flower in the wilderness of creative art.

       The G0A40610 watch dial features a falcon, revered as the king of the desert, surveying time with a sharp gaze and projecting its majesty onto the small scale of the watch. The plumage of the bird of prey is recreated with eggshell marquetry to produce striking, three-dimensional depth, blooming with lifelike charm in the hands of Piaget master artisan Isabelle Emmerique.

       True to the brand motto 'Always do better than necessary', the Piaget high-watchmaking workshop has elevated the brand's deep connection with Venice to a new level. Drawing inspiration from the unique craftsmanship and creative brilliance of the legendary city of Venice, Piaget has collaborated with master artisans to create new jewellery and watch masterpieces, conveying artistic ingenuity through exquisite craftsmanship.

       The relief adorning the Double Jeu dial presents the mysterious and tranquil atmosphere of the lagoon at dead of night (G0A40564). The intricate, three-dimensional landscape vividly depicts a gondola returning to the Basilica of Santa Maria della Salute, evoking the romantic scenes of lovers meeting in haste.
