The Historical Background of Vacheron Constantin
Vacheron Constantinis a brand with a long history and profound heritage. Today, let us talk aboutVacheron Constantin's history, to give you a better understanding.
Vacheron Constantin(Vacheron Constantin) The world-renowned Swiss watch brand Vacheron Constantin was founded in 1755. It is the oldest watch manufacturer in continuous production and one of the most famous watchmakers in the world. Vacheron Constantin has inherited the essence of traditional Swiss watchmaking without interruption, while also innovating many watchmaking techniques, making a tremendous contribution to the horological industry.
Vacheron Constantinis the world's oldest watch brand in continuous production, manufacturing just over 2 thousand pieces a year. The Maltese Cross on its dial, resembling the Swiss coat of arms, has become a symbol of taste, status, and wealth.
In 1755, founder Jean-Marc Vacheron, and later partner François Constantin, with their foresight and ultimate watchmaking craftsmanship, took the lead in establishing Vacheron Constantin in Switzerland—the watchmaking kingdom teeming with talent and culture. Renowned for its focus on humanistic spirit and historical heritage, and after 257 years of refinement by time, Vacheron Constantin has now become synonymous with "time" itself, and an irreplaceable piece of wrist art in the eyes of watch enthusiasts.
With a long historyVacheron Constantin, with years of watchmaking experience, has produced many great classics. However, "minimum volume, maximum quality, and highest selling price" has always been Vacheron Constantin's business strategy. Today, Vacheron Constantin's annual production at its Geneva factory is only 6000 watches. Since 1840, the production drawings, records, sales dates, and movement and case numbers of every single watch have been preserved intact in the company's archives. Combining superb technology, rigorous testing, exquisite craftsmanship, and perfect styling, they have created one noble, elegant, stunning, and highly collectible rare classic after another. Throughout the long history of watchmaking, it has remained an enduring symbol of luxury and elegance.
The "Maltese Cross" is the symbol of Vacheron Constantin, originally a precision gear used to adjust mainspring tension during the era of hand-crafted watchmaking. It is used solely to symbolise superior craftsmanship and the tradition of hand-crafted watchmaking.
In Shanghai at the beginning of the 20th century, when the small fishing village was transforming into an adventurer's paradise, Vacheron Constantin watches entered the Chinese market for the first time. As for the origin of the Chinese name "Jiang Shi Dan Dun", it is said to be a transliteration of the latter part of the brand name "Constantin" in the local Shanghai dialect. Although the transliteration is incomplete and not entirely ideal, after nearly a century, it has long become the established convention and is best left unchanged.
Vacheron Constantin is one of the oldest surviving watch companies. Its 250 years of horological heritage endow every product with rich substance, and the movements of most of its mechanical watches bear the Geneva Seal. Vacheron Constantin focuses on all categories of products within the brand, including highly complicated mechanical watches (such as perpetual calendars, tourbillons, and minute repeaters), high jewellery watches, enamel dial watches, skeletonised watches, and luxury sports watches. Almost all current models are masterpieces destined to be passed down, and upcoming new releases are highly anticipated. In many instances, Vacheron Constantin and Patek Philippe, both hailing from Geneva, are truly evenly matched, representing the pinnacle of watchmaking. Before Patek Philippe officially entered the mainland market, Vacheron Constantin was indisputably the most prestigious timepiece brand that could be seen in person in Beijing and across mainland China.
