Following the exhibitions at the Centre Pompidou in Paris in 2014 and the Swiss Architecture Museum in Basel in 2015, the “ Bernard · Tschumi — Architecture: Concept & Notation ” exhibition passionately presents Mr Tschumi's achievements as an architect, educator, and writer. By showcasing significant works from his long career, the exhibition explores the architectural design process, serving as a discussion and response to a series of definitions regarding contemporary architecture. A model of the Vacheron Constantin headquarters and manufacture building is a highlight of the exhibition; this modernist-style building features a semi-Maltese cross shape, perfectly integrating spaces for the brand's administrative and production departments. The design of the building was inspired by “ enclosure ”, an important concept developed by Mr Tschumi throughout his career. The building's design not only provides an exceptional working environment for all employees but also upholds and promotes the Vacheron Constantin brand philosophy of “ striving for excellence ”.

Vacheron Constantin and Mr. Bernard · Tschumi share common values inspired by the brand's watchmaking philosophy. Vacheron Constantin's master watchmakers break through spatial limitations to imbue mechanical movements with a soul within a tiny space, meticulously finishing every movement component hidden inside the case—parts visible only to the watchmaker, for how can outer beauty be revealed without inner beauty? This aligns perfectly with Mr. Tschumi's philosophy: both master watchmakers and architects are dedicated to overcoming unavoidable constraints, transforming all limitations into viable paths, integrating them, and looking to the future to create timeless masterpieces.

About Vacheron Constantin

Established in Geneva in 1755, Vacheron Constantin has a long history of over 260 years and is the world's oldest watch manufacturer in continuous production. Vacheron Constantin adheres to the spirit of high watchmaking, which combines exquisite technology with supreme quality, continuously designing, developing, and producing extraordinary timepieces. These watches embody the brand's three fundamental values: exquisite watchmaking craftsmanship, harmonious and highly creative aesthetic design, and perfect artistic mastery.

Vacheron Constantin works closely with the art and cultural sectors, striving to promote the development of artistic craftsmanship, which is at the heart of contemporary creativity. At the same time, Vacheron Constantin provides a collaboration platform for talent in the design field, highlighting the excellent results of their combined efforts.

Vacheron Constantin highly values vibrant creativity and is committed to promoting and inheriting artistic craftsmanship globally. It is precisely because of this unremitting determination that these traditional manual arts are preserved. In Vacheron Constantin's manufacture, traditional techniques are passed down from generation to generation through the traditional method of transmission between master watchmakers and apprentices.

About the Power Station of Art

The Power Station of Art was established on 2012 10 1 and is the first public contemporary art museum in mainland China, as well as the main venue for the Shanghai Biennale. Located on the banks of the Huangpu River, Shanghai's mother river, it has a building area of 4.1 square metres and an exhibition area of 1.5 square metres. The interior has a maximum cantilever of 27 metres, and the 165-metre-high chimney is both a Shanghai city landmark and an independent exhibition space.

The Power Station of Art building was converted from the former Nanshi Power Plant. During the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, it was the “ Urban Future Pavilion ”. It has witnessed Shanghai's urban transformation from the industrial to the information age, and its rugged industrial architectural style provides rich imagination and creative inspiration for artists. As a “ production workshop ” for new urban culture, constant self-renewal and keeping itself in the present tense is the source of life for this museum. The Power Station of Art is striving to provide the public with an open platform for the display and learning of contemporary culture and art; to eliminate the barriers between art and life; and to promote cooperation and knowledge production between different cultures and arts.
