The finest moments: the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Calendar watch
In 1945,Jaeger-LeCoultreintroduced a calendar watch, combining the clean lines popular in the second half of the twentieth century, which has since become the inspiration for all contemporary Master Calendar watches.
The finest moments
The arrangement of each practical function is clearly visible and orderly on the silver sunburst dial: most notably the two main time displays, indicated by dauphine central hands for the hours and minutes; additionally, other functions include the day and month displays situated in apertures at the 12 o'clock position, whilst the sub-dial at the 6 o'clock position allows for the reading of the moon phase, with the seconds displayed around the outer edge. True to tradition, the moon phase display appears between two clouds before rising into a starry night sky.
Master Calendar The Master Calendar watch is available in two versions: pink gold and stainless steel, both featuring a silver sunray-brushed dial. The pink gold model comes with an alligator leather strap paired with a matching pin buckle, whilst the stainless steel model is fitted with an alligator leather strap and a matching folding clasp. The Master Calendar watch is water-resistant to 5 bar, and its sapphire crystal case back reveals the Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 866, housing numerous components decorated in accordance with traditional fine watchmaking standards.
Master Calendar Watch - Pink Gold Model
In 2013, the Jaeger-LeCoultre manufacture introduced a new model in the Master Calendar series. Not only does this watch incorporate all the technical elements of the Master Control range, but it is also fitted with a 39 mm diameter case, showcasing its timeless charm.
The new Master Calendar watch adheres to the original design philosophy: clean lines and harmoniously aligned displays ensuring immediate readability of numerals and hour markers. The Jaeger-LeCoultre logo sits at 12 o'clock, whilst the word "AUTOMATIC" appears at 6 o'clock, instantly evoking the exceptional performance of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 866.
The case diameter of the new Master Calendar watch has been slightly reduced to 39 mm to suit various wrist sizes. Its balanced and proportional aesthetic is achieved thanks to a case thickness of 10.6 mm. This new element is integrated into the automatic movement, which houses a complete calendar. By reducing the diameter and thickness of the movement, designers were able to proportion the lugs and bezel accordingly, further enhancing the overall captivating elegance, with these technical modifications stemming from its magnificent aesthetic origins.
