Jaeger-LeCoultre alarm watches create timepieces
Having continually played a pivotal role in the history ofJaeger-LeCoultre, facing the first original watch, which has evolved into a legend as time has passed.
True to the original version, a historical timepiece of the twenty-first century
To satisfy enthusiasts of the iconic Polaris watch, the two vintage-inspired timepieces in the Memovox Tribute to Polaris collection faithfully recreate the features of the original models from 1965 and 1968.
A large round case with polished detailing, measuring 42 mm in diameter, with no external bezel and featuring 3 'grid'-adorned crowns. Maintaining the practices of the era, Jaeger-LeCoultre's watchmakers concealed a rotating bezel beneath the dial, complete with the famous central triangular marker (which can be used as a reference point for dive times). For ease of use, the case features a crown at the 3 o'clock position, surrounded by Memovox's two signature crowns: one at the 2 o'clock position for setting the alarm time, winding the alarm, and starting and stopping the alarm (as the alarm features an independent barrel); and another at the 4 o'clock position for setting the time and winding the watch movement.
The alarm time indicator can be quickly located via the luminescent triangle in the centre of the dial. Once the alarm crown is engaged, this indicator causes the luminescent triangle to rotate accordingly, ultimately pointing to the pre-set alarm time.
Whilst remaining faithful to the original black dial, each reissued model incorporates distinctive signatures. The reissued 1965 watch features nickel-plated polished linear baton hour markers, Arabic numeral hour markers, rhodium-plated dauphine luminescent hands, and 'Automatic Alarm Calendar' lettering. The most renowned reissued 1968 watch features primarily luminescent displays, set apart by its skeletonised baton hands and large trapezoidal luminescent hour markers. The prestigious Jaeger-LeCoultre logo is positioned at the 12 o'clock position on the dials of both watches.
Jaeger-LeCoultreRather than employing a sapphire crystal—which has now become standard across all watches—the manufactured Polaris watch uses a domed synthetic crystal exclusive to Jaeger-LeCoultre. Purists will certainly agree with this significant development in modern watchmaking rules, the form of which pays the ultimate tribute to a legendary model.
