      Lines, shapes, movement……Born in 2015, the Clé de Cartier watch derives its name from its key-shaped winding crown. Taking inspiration from traditional watchmaking, Cartier introduces a brand new way of operating the timepiece. Today, this watch is equipped with Cartier's first automatic skeleton movement——9621 MC calibre, its intricate mechanics purposely designed to showcase mechanical aesthetics.

      Cartier's signature Roman numerals are transformed into skeletonised bridges. The III, VI, IX, and XII numeral-styled bridges and the movement interact playfully between solids and voids, cleverly revealing the inner workings and the harmonious arrangement of fine watchmaking components.

      As the first automatic skeleton movement specially created by Cartier's watchmakers, its technical complexity is breathtaking. The challenge lay in showcasing skeleton aesthetics whilst keeping the oscillating weight as concealed as possible and ensuring winding efficiency remained unaffected. Through meticulous calculation, Cartier's watchmakers determined the ideal movement thickness and chose to equip it with a 22K gold oscillating weight. With this Clé de Cartier horological masterpiece, Cartier's skeleton aesthetics have reached yet another new height.
