How to adjust the date on a FOSSIL watch
FOSSIL is an American fashion watch brand, deeply sought after by younger demographics in China as well. However, some friends may not know how to adjust the date on a FOSSIL watch, so let Watch Home show you how!
1. Be extremely careful not to adjust the calendar between 9 pm and 3 am. During this period, the gears that change the calendar start to engage with each other; forcing a calendar adjustment manually is very likely to cause gear damage or misalignment. Naturally, for watches without a day/night display, it is impossible to distinguish 9 am from 9 pm, and the exact range of this time window varies slightly depending on the movement model. The simplest method is to first adjust the time into the 5 to 7 o'clock range, which is the safest window and applies to all watches.
2. The tiny components inside a precise mechanical watch are quite fragile compared to human force. Therefore, if it is your first time setting it or if you are not yet proficient, reading the brand instruction manual carefully beforehand is essential. Never exert excessive force when encountering unexpected resistance, as this might be due to an operational error. Gentle movements can prevent unnecessary damage.
3. When wearing or storing the watch, the crown should be kept in its normal position, and a screw-down crown should be fully locked to ensure water resistance and prevent dust ingress. The first position is for manual winding, the second position is for quick calendar adjustment, and the third position sets the time.
How do you adjust the date on a Fossil watch?
4. Set the calendar to the day before today. For example, if today is the 30th, set the calendar to the 29th, then advance the time clockwise until the calendar automatically flips to the 30th, indicating it is midnight on the 30th. Then set the time to the current time. This method prevents the watch from changing the calendar date at noon in future. Note that if the current time is in the afternoon or evening, you need to pass 12 o'clock once more when setting the time.
5. To prevent mishaps, try to adjust the hands in a clockwise direction as much as possible.
6. For manual-winding watches, be particularly careful not to overwind to avoid snapping the mainspring. Automatic movements feature a mechanism to prevent overwinding, so this issue does not occur; if fully unwound, winding about 20-F times is enough to ensure normal timekeeping.
