Which watch movement is good? What is the best watch movement?
As the most crucial component in any timepiece, the watch movement functions much like its 'heart'. A fine movement not only delivers precise, reliable timekeeping but also guarantees impressive quality. So, which watch movement is good? And what is the best watch movement overall? These are topics that watch enthusiasts frequently discuss. Below, Biaoli Ruyi provides an introduction.
When purchasing replica watches, many people compare movement specifications to judge quality. However, do you truly understand these movement parameters?

Frequency / Balance oscillation
Nowadays, most movements operate at beat frequencies such as 21600, 28800, and 36000, which represent the number of times the balance wheel oscillates back and forth per hour. This parameter is exceptionally critical. Under normal circumstances, a higher frequency means greater resistance to external interference, resulting in relatively more stable and reliable timekeeping. Watches with a frequency below 18000 vibrations per hour are classified as low-frequency (slow-beat) watches, whilst those above 21600 are high-frequency (fast-beat) watches. The higher a watch's frequency, the more accurate its timekeeping. Naturally, this parameter cannot be increased infinitely, as higher frequencies lead to greater friction, which in turn reduces the service interval.

Power reserve duration
The figure for power reserve duration is actually a theoretical estimate calculated on the assumption of a fully wound mainspring, much like a car's fuel consumption per hundred kilometres. At times, it may last longer than the stated figure, though this value will gradually decrease over time with normal wear and movement. Therefore, mechanical watch enthusiasts should regularly send their beloved timepieces for servicing.

Check the number of jewel bearings
A movement is composed of hundreds of precision components that move against each other with friction, causing a degree of component wear. To effectively prevent wear between components within the movement, jewel bearings are added. These jewels are synthetic rubies that effectively ensure the movement's running precision and lifespan. Since jewel bearings serve to protect the gear pivots, more gears naturally mean a higher number of jewel bearings. Generally speaking, a higher jewel count indicates a more complex movement. However, complexity is not everything, so one cannot judge the quality or grade of a movement based solely on the number of jewels.
Of course, the quality of a movement is not limited to these few points; it is also closely linked to the watchmaking expertise of each brand.
