How to set the time on a mechanical watch?
How to set the time on a mechanical watch? With the continuous improvement of people's living standards, more and more people like to wear mechanical watches when going out. A mechanical watch is not only a timekeeping tool, but also an accessory that can better reflect the wearer's identity, status, taste, and deportment. So how do you set the time on a mechanical watch?
Method for setting the time on a mechanical watch
1. Do not adjust the date between 22 and 2 (for some watches, 20 to 4), as this can easily cause damage to the watch and result in an incorrect calendar change.
2. To extend the lifespan of the watch, many models use a slow-change mechanism, where the date gradually transitions around midnight. It is normal for the change to be completed by 2 am, though some watches may take until 4 am.
3. If the calendar changes during the day, it can be adjusted. If you notice the date changing around midday, the watch is generally 12 hours fast or slow. For example, if it is currently 11 am but the watch shows 11 pm from the previous day, simply advance the hour hand by one full rotation to switch from pm to am. This is a common occurrence, happening in about 50% of cases.
4. Generally, watches should be adjusted by turning the crown clockwise, not anti-clockwise. Turning it anti-clockwise can easily cause misalignment of the hands (note: two-hand quartz watches should be adjusted anti-clockwise). Please note that if you wear the watch on your left wrist and adjust it with your right hand, turning it forward is clockwise.
5. Adjustment methods vary by watch model, but when setting a watch with a calendar function, you must always account for am and pm.
