What should you pay attention to when replacing the battery of a quartz watch?
Replacing the battery in a quartz watch requires care. For ultra-thin quartz watches, the choice of battery must be made with particular caution, because the movements of such watches are also very thin. If the battery is secured by a tension spring and screws, an thickened battery must not be used.

Replacing the battery of a quartz watch is a simple matter. Quartz watch batteries do not just come in 100 specifications or models; there are several dozen sizes, large and small, thin and thick. General repair shops will have the commonly used models, but might not carry the less common ones, especially those that are too small, too thin, or relatively large and thick.
The international model designation of silver oxide batteries actually represents the geometric dimensions of the battery's outer shape; for example, SR626 indicates that its diameter exceeds 6 millimetres while its thickness is 2.6 millimetres, with other models following by analogy. More prestigious quartz watches usually indicate the battery specification used by that movement on the case back or near the movement's battery bridge.
Thicker batteries have a larger capacity than thinner ones, which is beneficial for extending the battery replacement cycle. If a battery thinner than specified is used, care must also be taken to prevent the battery retaining spring from failing to hold the battery securely, causing it to pop up, lose contact with the negative terminal spring, or create a loose connection. Therefore, if necessary, a metal foil shim should be added to the battery (positive terminal) or "green adhesive putty" can be used to press it down.
Watch repair is a job that requires extreme meticulousness and cannot be done haphazardly. There is a Beijing slang saying: "frying sesame seeds with an ear pick—you fool me, and I fool you", which illustrates that if things are not done according to the rules, problems can easily arise, and a single oversight can lead to endless trouble. As they say, even a minor oversight can trigger a major disaster. One must never be penny-wise and pound-foolish. Whenever possible, you should always try to replace the watch battery with the specified model.
Precautions for using quartz watches
1, avoid bringing the watch close to magnetic clasps
Regardless of the model or high value, Noob factory watches are vulnerable to magnetic fields. For mechanical watches, the movement is the most susceptible to magnetic interference; while quartz watches do not have as many steel components, they are still significantly affected. Regarding this issue, men in particular should note not to place their watches near belt buckles, while women should keep their watches away from magnetic clasps on handbags.
2, wearing the watch while bathing or swimming
Although some replica watches from the N-factory can be worn while diving, they are in the minority. Standard watches can be worn while washing, but they cannot withstand prolonged immersion. Therefore, please do not wear your watch while swimming or bathing, and certainly do not take it into a sauna; the high temperatures will cause the watch to oxidise.
3, never taking it to a professional service centre for maintenance.
Watches are items subject to wear and tear. To ensure a longer lifespan, they must be taken to after-sales service for professional maintenance and servicing. As for how often maintenance is required, please consult the after-sales staff.
4, failing to keep the watch wound or remove the battery when it is not in use.
When you do not wish to wear your watch, remember to wind it fully or remove the battery. For mechanical watches, it is also necessary to clean and oil the interior to prevent the internal lubricants from drying out. For watches that have not been worn for a long time, perform the aforementioned maintenance monthly to ensure the watch maintains its operational performance when you do wear it.
