An Analysis of Longines Watches
Introduction: Longines is a highly popular brand in the watch industry, but how do its quality and pricing compare? Today, we analyse Longines for you.
The History of Longines
Longines(LONGINES)is a company founded by Ernest Francillon in Saint-Imier, Switzerland. Longines holds the oldest registered trademark for a watch brand (the winged hourglass). The Longines company is part of the Swiss Swatch Group.
The Longines company was originally founded in 1832 by Auguste Agassiz. Since its inception, Longines has been regarded as the epitome of elegance. In addition to its dedication to precision watchmaking, Longines has continuously researched and pioneered new fields, placing a strong emphasis on noble, elegant designs and innovative concepts, with every design detail crafted to the highest standard. The Conquest collection was introduced in 1998.
Longines focuses on technical research and continuous improvement. By the 1929 Barcelona Exhibition, it had won more than ten prestigious grand prizes at various international and world exhibitions, truly earning its reputation as the "most honoured" watchmaking house. In 1889, Francillon patented the trademark consisting of the name Longines and the winged hourglass symbol. Today,LonginesLongines has become the oldest, unaltered, yet still highly active brand among all international registrations at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). As early as 1867, the watchmaking house adopted the "winged hourglass" symbol and the "Longines" brand name as symbols of exceptional quality, fighting tirelessly against counterfeits and replicas that attempted to profit from the prestigious reputation of Longines products.
Longines watches are often at the forefront of technological development. In 1912, Longines became the official timekeeper for the Swiss Federal Games held in 1912. In 1927, Longines participated in the world's first flight across the Atlantic. In the 20s of the 70 century, Longines made breakthroughs in production and development. Many improvements were made to watch performance, with continuous progress. In the 20s of the 80 century, Longines set another world record: the world's thinnest electromagnetic watch, with a thickness of only 1.98 mm. In 1982, Longines released a series of watches commemorating the F1 Ferrari team. On 2001 2 19, Longines produced the 3000 millionth watch since the factory was established.
Longines price ranges and suitable target audience
LonginesIt is a well-known Swiss watch brand, enjoying a reputation in the domestic market comparable to Tissot. However, their target customer positioning differs. Tissot aims to be a Swiss luxury watch that "every white-collar worker can afford to wear", whereas Longines has a slightly higher price positioning, generally ranging from around 4000 to 2 ten thousand, targeting "standouts among white-collar workers". Tissot focuses on value for money. Longines offers both value for money and an elegant personality.
