How to Use a Longines Watch
Many people useLongines watchonly know how to wear rather than how to use. Wearing and using are not the same thing, so today we will teach you how to use a Longines watch.
How to use a Longines watch
Longines mechanical watchThere are two types: manual mechanical and automatic mechanical. Like other mechanical watches, manual mechanical Longines watches need to be wound daily, whereas automatic watches do not require winding as long as they are worn for a sufficient amount of time each day with adequate movement to ensure normal operation.
Using a Longines mechanical watch in everyday life is also straightforward. Periodically check the daily variance of your watch. Generally, new watches tend to run fast; firstly, this makes adjustment easy. Once it runs fast by 1 minutes, simply stop the watch and wait for 1 minutes before resuming, whereas if it runs slow, you will need to turn the hands to align them. Secondly, this is for future use, as watches naturally tend to run slower over time due to internal lubricants thickening and losing their lubricating efficacy. As a general rule of thumb: when your watch runs slow by more than 45 seconds a day, it is time to have it serviced and oiled. This is from practical experience. Generally speaking, a Longines watch can go 5 years without servicing provided there are no faults, though a service is typically required around 6-8 years. Therefore, there is no need to worry unduly, as it is not as complicated as you might think.
Secondly, you need to understand the water resistance rating of your watch. If the water resistance is above 120M, specifically 10AT or higher, the seals of the watch will inevitably age after 2-3 years (barring Mido's cork technology). Therefore, if you fail to maintain it on time, you should not test the water resistance of a diving watch after 2-3 years. Do not go swimming in a pool wearing a watch that has not been serviced for 2-3 years, even if it is a 600-metre water-resistant Seamaster or Oyster.
Finally, if your watch is a chronometer, it should be serviced through official channels, because such servicing ensures it continues to receive chronometer testing and adjustment; otherwise, the chronometer designation loses its meaning.
