Solutions for inaccurate timekeeping in Longines watches
When yourLongines watchis not keeping accurate time, how should you repair or adjust it?
If yourLongines watchis a five-function (hour, minute, second, month, date) digital watch, there are three function buttons on the case. S1 is used to change the LCD display mode, which can be pressed to show the time, calendar, or seconds. S3 is the button for the internal backlight, which should be used sparingly to extend the life of the internal micro-battery. S2 is the button used to adjust the time and calendar, which can be used in conjunction with Sl to set the time and date. For watches with modern CMOS integrated circuits, when the LCD is in seconds mode, pressing S2 allows for an adjustment of errors within ±30 seconds. To prevent accidental operation, S2 generally requires a sharp object (such as a pin or ballpoint pen tip) to be activated.
Adjustment method: When the LCD shows the time, press S1 twice consecutively so that the LCD shows seconds. At this point, you can press S2 to make fine adjustments. When the seconds display on the LCD shows 01-29 seconds, you can correct a running-fast state by pressing S2 to quickly rewind the time to zero; when the LCD shows 30-59, you can correct a running-slow state, at which point pressing S2 will rapidly advance the time to zero.
For example: if it is known that the Longines watch standard time will be 11: 00, and the electronic watch is already 1O seconds fast—meaning that at 11:00:00 it will display 11:00:10—then you simply need to press SI prior to the time signal so that it is in the seconds display mode, and press S2 the moment the time signal arrives, whereupon the electronic watch display will quickly adjust to 11:00:00; similarly, when the electronic watch is 10 seconds slower than the standard time, pressing S2 when the time signal arrives will cause the electronic watch display to rapidly advance from 10:59:50 to 11:00:00, thereby achieving the purpose of time synchronisation.
Using this method, you can quickly and conveniently calibrate a Longines watch when the time error is within 30 seconds. If the time discrepancy is relatively large, you can also repeat the use of S2 multiple times to first reduce the error, and then apply the above steps for calibration. Compared with the method of resetting the time, this approach avoids disrupting the calendar during the adjustment process. It is particularly suitable for those who are less familiar with how to operate electronic watches.
In addition,Longines quartz watchWhen a calendar needs to be used on the watch, it is usually switched by pressing S1. For electronic watches adopting novel CMOS integrated circuits, simply pressing S2 once while in the time display state will enable the calendar and time to automatically switch and display every 2 seconds. If you wish to restore the automatic switching display back to the time display, simply press S2 five times consecutively to reset the time display. Similarly, this method also applies to the time calibration of Longines LCD electronic clocks.
If yourLongines watchIf you encounter an issue with inaccurate timekeeping, you might want to try the above methods.
