The Most Coveted Diver's Watch: Rolex Submariner (No-Date)
RolexThe immense popularity of the Submariner requires little introduction; among all Rolex models, the renowned “ Submariner ” is undeniably the benchmark. Introduced in 1953, the Submariner was the world's first wristwatch waterproof to 100 metres. Subsequently, with the brand's patented Triplock winding crown, its water resistance was enhanced to 300 metres. At sea, it serves as an essential tool for divers; on land, it is a widely admired sports watch of supreme elegance. Today we present a Submariner timepiece, official reference number: 114060-97200.

As the most accessible entry-level option in the “ Submariner ” family, this no-date “ Submariner ” is an unrivalled choice for collectors stepping into fine watchmaking.

Iconic Oyster case
Featuring the iconic Oyster case, Mercedes hands, a 40 mm case diameter, a thickness of 12.5 mm, and water resistance to 300 metres. Crafted from Rolex's proprietary 904L stainless steel, the case is paired with a black dial, a black Cerachrom ceramic bezel insert, and platinum-coated numerals, striking an ideal balance between contemporary style and understated elegance.

Cerachrom ceramic bezel insert
Rolex's Cerachrom ceramic bezel insert deserves special mention; its primary advantages are exceptional scratch resistance and a luminous lustre that exudes refinement. Introduced in 2005, this ceramic insert demands meticulous engineering: the ceramic is first heated to 1500 degrees Celsius to harden and purify it, after which the required numerals are engraved into the ultra-hard ceramic surface—a material rivalled only by diamond in scratch resistance. Producing each ceramic bezel insert requires 40 hours of craftsmanship.

Triplock winding crown
The winding crown utilises the Triplock system, a patented triple water-resistance design engineered by Rolex specifically for the Submariner. First introduced in 1970 and refined through successive technical innovations, the Triplock mechanism comprises 10 separate components. Once screwed down against the Oyster case, it creates a hermetic seal offering robust protection akin to a submarine hatch.

Classic Oyster bracelet
The bracelet is the classic three-piece link Oyster bracelet crafted from 904L stainless steel. 904L stainless steel offers exceptional resistance to corrosion and is widely utilised in high-tech, aerospace, and chemical industries, guaranteeing superb robustness.

A relatively slim profile
Viewed from the non-crown flank, the Submariner presents a slimmer profile than the Deepsea series; free of excessive bulk, it is exceptionally comfortable and versatile on the wrist. The brushed metal finish accentuates its solid industrial aesthetic whilst helping to disguise everyday hairline scratches.

Glidelock clasp
904L stainless steel Rolex patented Glidelock clasp. The advantage of this clasp is that divers can easily adjust the bracelet without using any tools, even when wearing a wetsuit. The robust serrated components beneath the clasp allow the bracelet to be extended by up to 20 mm in increments of 2 mm.

The lugs are flush with the first link of the Oyster bracelet
Rolex watch models generally feature relatively short lugs, making them very comfortable to wear. The lugs and the Oyster bracelet integrate together seamlessly, with the lugs sitting essentially flush against the first link of the Oyster bracelet.

Jet-black dial with Mercedes hands and hour markers
Featuring a jet-black dial, the Mercedes hands and hour markers maintain the classic feel of the Submariner. The Chromalight display utilises blue luminescence, which under the same lighting conditions can emit a blue glow for up to 8 hours, doubling the duration of standard luminous materials.

3130 automatic winding movement
The fluted case back is screwed down by Rolex watchmakers using a special tool to hermetically seal the case. It is powered by the in-house developed 3130 automatic winding movement, which is fitted with a Parachrom hairspring to help resist the effects of shocks and temperature variations. Its construction, like all Oyster movements, offers unparalleled reliability.
