Icons and meanings on the crown of a Rolex watch
Rolex watches utilizing the Oyster case boast exceptional water resistance, which also relies on the structure of the crown. Since the crown is the only moving component that requires frequent operation, sealing in this area is particularly crucial. Rolex watches adopt a screw-down crown structure, which seals like a bottle stopper once tightened; furthermore, there are at least two waterproof sealing rings here; like the Submariner (16610LVmodels and Daytona series watches, featuring as many waterproof sealing rings as3heavy, with the additional one located on the outside of the case tube, which remains visible when the crown is pulled out.

Rolex crown
1, a single dot indicates that the watch has aPT950platinum case; this precious metal is very dense, making the watch feel comparatively heavy in the hand;
2, two dots signify that the watch uses a18Kwhite gold or yellow gold case;
3、 Three dots can also be understood as triple waterproofness. On watches with this type of crown, the waterproof sealing ring is visible on the outside of the case tube. Building on this triple waterproofness, if the watch case is made of platinum, then its3middle dot of the three will be relatively small; if the watch case material is18Kwhite gold, then its3two dots on either side will be relatively small. When the three dots are of equal size, the situation is equivalent to that using a dash, typically where the case material is18Kgold,18Kgold+stainless steel, or pure stainless steel.
