Common Misconceptions in Using Replica Watches (Part Two): Magnetisation
Countermeasures: The most direct way to avoid magnetisation is to keep the watch away from magnetic fields. In daily life, mechanical watches encounter magnetic fields frequently, such as when placed near electrical appliances (e.g., speakers, refrigerators, computers) or magnetic objects (e.g., magnets, mobile phones). Additionally, magnetic clasps on women's handbags or men's phone cases can cause the watch to become magnetised, leading to inaccurate timekeeping or temporary stoppage. You need to be extra careful with these details when wearing your watch.

If your watch has accidentally become magnetised, how do you demagnetise it? The best and most direct method is to take it to a watch repair shop, as they have specialised demagnetisation equipment to restore the watch's accuracy. If you are far from a repair shop, you can find a non-magnetised iron block with a circular hole in the middle, stand it upright on a table, and slowly pass the watch through the hole; the iron block will absorb the magnetism from the watch. Alternatively, you can place the watch on a clean, non-magnetised iron plate, and after two days, the magnetism will gradually dissipate.
