The slightly raised, domed aluminium base acts as its sound box, containing a resonant soundboard made of two pieces of 350-year-old resonant spruce membrane (incorporating a Nomex honeycomb structure and a central carbon fibre rod to facilitate sound conduction and improve quality). How is the music produced by the two cylinders transmitted to the soundboard at the base? This is achieved through the connecting inclined tail booms, which act as vibration transmission bridges, much like the neck of a guitar or violin, allowing the box and the movement of the music cylinders to cause the comb to vibrate and resonate. The two sets of tracks were carefully selected by Maximilian Büsser; one cylinder plays themes from Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Star Trek, while the other features classic hits from three great rock bands: Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, and The Clash, with each track lasting 36 seconds.
