Tips for Cleaning Watch Straps
A long-worna replica Cartier watchIf certain details are observed during the strap cleaning process, cleaning efficiency can be greatly increased, and the lifespan of the strap can even be extended. Below are methods used during strap cleaning that will hopefully prove useful.

Many young people prefer leather straps, which require regular cleaning. It is common to see people neglect this, causing the leather surface to crack and completely ruining the aesthetic value of the watch, making it unappealing to wear. In fact, leather straps are easy to clean: use a cotton cloth dampened with soapy water to remove grime, which not only eliminates dirt but also reduces odours. Hand cream can be used in daily life to maintain leather straps. Products such as “Lijimei” can also be used for cleaning, which removes stains while providing a polished and protective finish. Hydrogen peroxide can additionally serve to disinfect and sterilise.
For metal straps, which are harder to clean because gaps accumulate sweat and dust during wear, these areas represent “blind spots” during cleaning. Clearing these crevices requires a wooden stick to remove debris, followed by a soft brush dipped in cleaning solution. Never submerge the watch entirely in the cleaning solution; the watch head must be detached, as long-term use provides no guarantee that the waterproof seals remain intact. Those with the means are best advised to wear a sports watch during the hot summer months, which also helps prolong the lifespan of a metal bracelet.
