Which is better, a mechanical watch or a quartz watch?
Mechanical watches are less accurate than quartz watches, more expensive, and complex in craftsmanship, giving them a high-class feel; fine mechanical watches are ideal for appreciation and collecting. Quartz watches are highly accurate, inexpensive, fashionable, and have minimal deviation, but are often perceived as lower class. So, which is actually better, a mechanical watch or a quartz watch?

Characteristics of quartz watches:
(1) The seconds hand of a quartz watch jumps once per second, keeping highly accurate time, generally requiring a monthly variation of less than 15 seconds. They are available in three-hand and two-hand configurations.
(2) Integrated circuits are used in the movement, making the structure much simpler than a mechanical movement and very easy to assemble.
(3) Easy to use, no winding required when worn, and a single battery typically lasts for 2-3 years. However, some quartz watches use lithium batteries, which have a longer lifespan and can last for around 7-8 years.
(4) Quartz watches are relatively cheaper than mechanical watches (of the same brand and style), but some high-end brand quartz watches are expensive due to brand prestige, premium exterior materials (18k gold, diamonds, or precious metals), and outstanding design, making some quartz watches far more valuable than average mechanical watches.
Characteristics of mechanical watches:
(1) The movement of a mechanical watch differs from a quartz watch, as the second hand of a mechanical watch sweeps continuously and without interruption.
(2) Due to the complexity of mechanical movements, the daily rate variation is relatively larger (depending on the brand). Chronometer-certified movements have smaller variations, with a daily rate within -4/+6 seconds being normal. The rate variation of a mechanical watch does not accumulate, but the watch will need adjusting after a period of time.
(3) Exquisite craftsmanship, convenient to use, and can run for more than 36 hours when fully wound.
(4) The movement has a long service life.
(5) The exterior is somewhat thicker and heavier than a quartz watch (depending on the brand). Some brands make very thin models, but these are generally manual-winding mechanical watches.
