What are curved watches like?
Everyone has their own preferences and favourite shapes; when choosing a watch, we select based on the styles we like. Among these, some people have a particular fondness for curved watches.

How is the movement fitted into such a watch? Firstly, watch movements are not specifically designed and manufactured to fit a curved case; the shape is merely altered externally. In terms of the movement, a smaller one is simply used, including for men's watches; in this regard, it is the same as watches with non-standard hands.
The biggest issue with curved watches is the fit between the hands, the crystal, and the dial. The hands cannot be made too long, as one must consider that they should not scrape the inside of the domed crystal, nor should there be too large a gap between them and the dial.
If it is a mechanical watch with an automatic function, such models are generally quite large. The crystal must protrude significantly, and there will be a relatively large gap between the dial and the movement assembly surface.
The larger the diameter of the watch movement, the better its performance indicators are likely to be. The battery life of small quartz movements is also relatively shorter, and small movements are more sensitive to the imbalance of the hands. When we buy a watch, even if you are particularly fond of a domed shape, you should choose one with a smaller curvature, as these offer better value for money.
The dial is also domed, which creates a gap between it and the movement, so the hour and minute hand shafts for this type of watch movement are lengthened. Furthermore, they generally lack a second hand or use a small seconds sub-dial. The movement spacer ring is custom-made, with one side being curved to match the dial.
Another issue is water resistance. Generally, water resistance is a challenge for curved watches, especially when the case back is completely curved, as this places strict requirements on the sealing gap, which can only be achieved by high-level craftsmanship. This approach is fine, but it is problematic if the case back is curved both inside and out and is of the press-fit (snap-on) type. Many low-quality fashion watches are like this; not only is the seal very poor, but it is also difficult to open and close the case back.
