How to maintain and retain the value of luxury watches?
Normally, our maintenance of luxury watches is only for the protection of the exterior, while the interior should be left to professionals for servicing. So how should luxury watches be maintained to better retain their value?

Luxury Watch Care Methods
a. Regularly use a soft cloth or silk to gently wipe away dirt and sweat stains from the case.
b. Manual-winding mechanical watches should be wound at a fixed time, preferably fully wound in one go. When winding, turn the crown at an appropriate speed and do not wind it too tightly. If it is too tight, the mainspring can easily become stuck by the oil in the barrel. When the mainspring relaxes, it can easily break due to excessive tension.
c. Watches are most sensitive to violent vibrations; it is best to remove the watch when playing ball sports or hitting things with your hands.
d. Watches are also susceptible to water damage. Therefore, it is best to remove your watch when washing clothes, washing hands, or doing other work that involves contact with water. If condensation or water droplets appear under the watch crystal, it should be serviced promptly to wipe away the moisture and dry the movement. However, if there is only a small amount of condensation, it will disappear on its own once the weather dries up.
e. Please do not bring the watch close to magnetic objects such as radios and televisions, so as not to affect accuracy.
f. Please do not allow the watch to come into contact with solvents, mercury, cosmetic sprays, detergents, adhesives, paints, or camphor, otherwise the case and strap/bracelet may discolour, deteriorate, or be damaged. Camphor is a highly volatile substance that can easily cause the movement oil to solidify, losing its lubricating effect and thereby damaging the accuracy of the timepiece.
g. Do not expose the watch to sudden changes in temperature. Extreme temperature fluctuations will increase timing errors; the mainspring inside a mechanical watch can easily snap due to rapid temperature changes, and rubber gaskets will age prematurely, compromising the watch's water resistance.
h. Do not open the case back casually to prevent dust from entering; furthermore, do not adjust settings haphazardly—if damaged, take it to a watch store for repair promptly.
Tips for retaining the value of luxury watches
(1) It is best to wind our watches at a fixed time every day, fully winding them in one go. When winding, turn the crown at an appropriate speed and force, and remember not to wind it too tightly. If it is too tight, the mainspring can easily stick to the oil inside the barrel. When the mainspring relaxes, it can easily snap due to excessive tension.
(2) The most harmful thing for luxury watches is violent vibration. When playing ball games or hitting things with our hands, remember it is best to take the watch off, as luxury watches are also afraid of water immersion. Therefore, when doing laundry, washing hands, or doing other work involving contact with water, it is best to take off the luxury watch. If condensation or water droplets appear on the watch glass, it must be repaired promptly, the condensation and water droplets wiped away, and the movement dried out. However, if there is only slight condensation, it will slowly dry naturally once the weather becomes dry. This way, the price of your genuine luxury watch will not drop.
