Winding direction for mechanical watches
Many friends buying a mechanical watch for the first time are unfamiliar with winding it, so below I will explain the winding direction for novices!

Factors affecting automatic mechanical watch winding
(1) This is related to the size of the crown; a larger crown is easier to grip and apply force to, whereas a smaller one tends to slip. It also depends on how tightly fitted the crown is with the case tube; if it is relatively tight, it will also affect smooth winding.
(2) This is related to the gear transmission ratio for winding. Different watch movements have different gear ratios in the winding system, including the number of teeth on the intermediate wheel, ratchet wheel and crown wheel, meaning the winding speed varies.
(3) The number of working turns of the mainspring also varies. The working turns of a watch mainspring typically range between 6-10 turns; those with more working turns will require more winding rotations.
(4) This is related to winding force. I always wind the mainspring fully with a firm force myself, whereas some people might wind it more delicately, so the degree of rotation for the crown each time will differ.
Which direction do you wind a mechanical watch?
Place the watch face up and wind with your right hand in a clockwise direction. Generally, a fully wound watch should run for 2-3 days without issue, but if it is a new watch, it needs to be fully wound once first!
Mechanical watch time setting and maintenance knowledge
1. Please use and adjust the watch correctly. Before using an automatic mechanical watch for the first time, it must be wound manually, but remember not to overwind it so as to avoid damaging the movement and jamming the mechanism. Take care to gently pull and push the crown when adjusting, without using excessive force. Once adjusted, ensure the crown is pushed fully back in to prevent water resistance failure caused by an unsealed crown!
2. All mechanical watches have a bedding-in period. During this period, a daily rate variation of plus or minus one minute within 24 hours is considered normal. Once the bedding-in period has passed and the watch enters a stable phase, a secondary adjustment can be made! The bedding-in period is generally set at three months!
3. For multi-functional models, take care not to press the chronograph pushers arbitrarily, and remember not to press them in rapid succession! The chronograph function should not be used when the mainspring is fully wound. The sapphire crystal must not rub against diamonds or other glass surfaces!
