How to clean a leather strap yourself
Since watches are worn frequently, how should you clean a leather strap when it gets dirty? Today, we will introduce some maintenance and cleaning methods, hoping to be of help to you.

Methods for cleaning leather straps
If the strap becomes wet, it should be dried immediately with a cloth, and any dust should also be brushed off with a cloth (if a damp cloth is used, it must be dried after cleaning). In addition, prolonged exposure to sunlight will also cause the strap to deteriorate, which is another point that requires attention.
Dip a brush in a little soapy water, quickly scrub the stained areas, and then wipe them with a damp cloth. To prevent soapy water from seeping into the leather, the whole process is best completed within 20 seconds. In addition, consumers can also apply some leather oil to the strap, as leather oil has a protective effect on the strap and can make maintenance more thorough.
"Hardening" is also a common symptom when a strap is worn for a long time, in addition to producing odours. If the strap is often in a humid environment, it will accelerate its hardening speed, and sweat stains will also corrode the leather, causing the strap to deform, harden, and even break, inexplicably leading to the loss or dropping of the watch. Therefore, in addition to diligent daily maintenance, it is absolutely necessary not to bend the strap when it hardens and to replace it in a timely manner.
For leather straps, wipe and maintain them with detergent every two to three months. How to tell a good leather strap from a bad one on the surface: better straps are generally stitched with thread at both edges, while lower-grade ones are basically glued together, and the straps will easily come unglued when exposed to water. Straps that are cracking or ungluing should be replaced in a timely manner.
Steps for cleaning leather watch straps
1, when a leather strap develops an odour, dip a toothbrush into a little soapy water, quickly scrub the dirty areas, and then wipe clean with a slightly damp cloth.
2, spray medicinal alcohol with a concentration of 99% onto the leather strap, then apply a coat of beeswax; the odour of the leather strap can be instantly eliminated. After three applications, this can be permanently removed, providing exceptionally strong disinfection, moisture-proof, and mildew-resistant benefits without harming the leather strap.
3, you can add a little table vinegar to warm water, soak the leather strap for 2 hour, and then wash with soap; the odour of the leather strap will be reduced.
4, you can also pour floral water onto a towel and then use the towel to wipe the leather strap; the leather odour will disappear, and the watch leather strap will be thoroughly cleaned.
5, detach the strap for cleaning. Use a suitable amount of washing liquid as the cleaning solution, soak the strap in warm water for 10 minutes first, and then scrub the crevices of the strap using the softest toothbrush.
6, professional cleaning equipment uses an ultrasonic cleaning machine (note that the bracelet should be detached for cleaning to avoid vibration damaging internal parts).
7, to avoid soapy water seeping into the leather during cleaning, the entire process should ideally be completed within 20 seconds. In addition, consumers can also apply some leather oil to the leather strap. Leather oil has a protective effect on the strap, making the maintenance work more thorough.
