How to adjust the time on an Omega 6-hand watch?
Omega watches have numerous functions, and the Omega 6-hand watch is one of them. Many beginner friends have purchased this type of watch but are not quite clear on how to adjust the time.
How Omega 6-hand watches work
The power for an Omega 6-hand watch is supplied by the mainspring inside, which is housed in the barrel. This barrel also contains the first wheel, which drives the centre pinion and centre wheel; the centre pinion and wheel then drive the third pinion and wheel; the third pinion and wheel subsequently drive the fourth pinion and wheel; and the fourth wheel drives the escape wheel. The rotation speed of these gears is controlled by the escapement.
The escapement mainly consists of the balance wheel, balance spring, pallet lever and escape wheel. It transfers the power generated by the mainspring to the balance wheel, causing it to swing back and forth. As the balance wheel swings back and forth, it drives the pallet lever to swing along with it, so that the small pallets on the pallet arms alternately engage and disengage with the teeth of the escape wheel.
The ticking sound made when a six-hand watch operates comes from the movement of these components. The speed and regularity of the balance wheel's oscillation determine whether the watch can keep accurate time.
How to set the time on an Omega 6-hand watch
1. Press button B (the bottom button) to reset the stopwatch, and check whether the positions of the stopwatch second hand (the hand in the bottom sub-dial) and the 0.01-second hand (the longest hand, which looks like a normal watch's second hand) point to the 12 o'clock direction.
2. If the position is incorrect, please pull the crown out to the 2 position.
3. Press button A (the top button) to rotate the 0.01-second hand of the stopwatch, adjusting it to the 12 o'clock position.
4. If the hands are aligned correctly, please proceed directly to step 5. If the alignment of the hands is still incorrect (for example, if the hand in the bottom sub-dial does not point correctly to the 12 o'clock position), then press button B to rotate the stopwatch hand to adjust it, bringing it back to its correct position.
5. After completing your required adjustments, push the crown back inwards to its original position.
