Instructions for Omega waterproof watches
Omega watches are a famous Swiss watch brand, renowned worldwide for their quality workmanship and accurate timekeeping! As a world-renowned luxury watch, the functions of Omega watches are very powerful. Below I will introduce the instructions for using Omega waterproof watches!
Instructions for Omega waterproof watches
The water resistance of Omega watches is achieved by meeting corresponding standards through waterproof rubber seals at the watch glass, case back, crown, and other locations. All water-resistant watches have the words "WATER RESISTANT" or "WATER PROOF" stamped on the case back. Watches without water-resistance markings are only dust-proof and should avoid contact with water. A thirty-metre (3ATM, i.e., three atmospheres) water-resistant watch can be used for daily washing or in the rain, meaning water droplets only splash onto the surface without any water pressure being applied to the watch.
Water-resistant watches that consumers can purchase from regular retailers are divided into three major categories: water-resistant watches for daily life, enhanced water-resistant watches for daily life, and diving water-resistant watches. Water-resistant watches for daily life: can resist sweat, accidentally splashed rainwater, or water droplets when washing the face, but are not suitable for bathing, swimming, diving, and other situations. Enhanced water-resistant watches for daily life: can be used for work or sports frequently involving water (swimming, surfing, etc.) or snorkelling. Diving water-resistant watches: can be used during snorkelling or scuba diving. In addition, according to different diving depths, this type of water-resistant watch is further divided into air diving water-resistant, saturation diving water-resistant, and professional diving water-resistant functions.
When purchasing a water-resistant watch, pay attention to the text instructions regarding the scope of application, remain calm in the face of promotional values and pictures, and purchase according to your needs; when wearing a water-resistant watch, wear it within the scope and circumstances indicated in the manual; do not wear a water-resistant watch in environments such as bathing, sea bathing, hot springs, contact with high-temperature steam, or situations with sudden and drastic temperature changes; water-resistant watches must be taken within the correct timeframe to repair centres designated by the manufacturer or regular ones with the required technical capabilities and equipment levels to clean the watch, conduct water-resistance tests, and replace water-resistant components in accordance with the times indicated in the manual; regular cleaning and maintenance of expensive watches is even more important.
General water-resistant watches cannot be worn for swimming. Although general watches have adopted sealing measures to prevent the intrusion of sweat and harmful gases, they are not absolutely impermeable to water. At the same time, certain unavoidable phenomena will occur during the use of the watch: with daily winding and time-setting, the rubber rings inside the crown or crown tube will gradually wear out. Affected by temperature, the crystal glass expands and contracts thermally, creating gaps between it and the case; the waterproof rubber seal on the case back ages or is corroded by sweat, all of which will reduce the water-resistant performance of a water-resistant watch. Therefore, general water-resistant watches must never be worn for swimming or bathing. Even when washing clothes, washing dishes, or cooking, care must be taken to prevent water from splashing onto the watch or water vapour from entering the watch, otherwise, the internal components of the watch will rust upon contact with water, affecting the quality of the hands and even rendering them useless.
Any water-resistant watch, regardless of the depth rating indicated, must not be used in hot water (>40C°). There are two reasons: 1, water molecules have vastly increased permeability when the temperature rises, and all water-resistant watches are designed based on cold water. 2, according to thermal expansion and contraction, certain components of the watch will expand to varying degrees under hot water conditions, potentially increasing gaps.
