Method for adjusting the time on an Earnshaw mechanical watch

The day-date jump mechanism on Titoni watches varies by design, split into two types: fast and slow. The first type completes the calendar jump within ±5 minutes, while the second type completes the jump within 3 hours.

  2. If you encounter an Earnshaw watch with a screw-down crown, do not pull it forcefully. Please first rotate the locked crown anticlockwise to unscrew it. After adjusting the time, turn the Earnshaw crown clockwise and push it in to lock it, so as to avoid water ingress.

  3. If you need to adjust the date on an Earnshaw watch with a calendar function, please first adjust the calendar to the day before the required date, and then rotate the hour hand to adjust the date. The date will change when the hour hand passes midnight at 12 o'clock, which avoids confusing day and night caused by direct date adjustment.

  4. Do not adjust the date, day of the week, or moon phase of an Earnshaw watch between 21:00PM and 3:00AM. During this period, the calendar function is operating and it is also a time when gear meshing is lower; frequent operations will damage the internal parts of the Earnshaw watch.

  5. The top-right button of the Earnshaw watch is for adjusting the day of the week, displayed by the small subdial at the 9 o'clock position on the dial. The day function jumps 7 time or a multiple of 7, which is 14 times per cycle. That is: it jumps once in the morning and once in the afternoon.

  6. Unscrew the middle button of the Earnshaw watch. In the unscrewed state, without pulling out the crown, rotating it upwards winds the mainspring. For a new Earnshaw watch or one that has been left unused for a long time, it is recommended to wind it about 30 times to build up a power reserve for the watch, avoiding stopping or inaccurate timing caused by insufficient physical activity.

  7. Pull the crown outward and turn the hour hand two full turns, stopping at the 7 o'clock position. Why do this? Because adjusting the following functions on a new Earnshaw watch while it is not running will cause it to jam. If it has not been worn for a long time, it is also recommended to operate it this way to avoid damaging the movement. Then pull the crown out to the first click to adjust the date, which is the 1-31th. If you encounter a month with only 30 days, you just need to manually adjust past the 31th.

  Watch time-setting guide

  1. Please use and adjust the watch correctly. Before using an automatic mechanical watch for the first time, it must be wound manually, but remember not to overwind it so as to avoid damaging the movement and jamming the mechanism. Take care to gently pull and push the crown when adjusting, without using excessive force. Once adjusted, ensure the crown is pushed fully back in to prevent water resistance failure caused by an unsealed crown!

  2. All mechanical watches have a bedding-in period. During this period, a daily rate variation of plus or minus one minute within 24 hours is considered normal. Once the bedding-in period has passed and the watch enters a stable phase, a secondary adjustment can be made! The bedding-in period is generally set at three months!

  3. For multi-functional models, take care not to press the chronograph pushers arbitrarily, and remember not to press them in rapid succession! The chronograph function should not be used when the mainspring is fully wound. The sapphire crystal must not rub against diamonds or other glass surfaces!

  4. Time-setting method for calendar watches:

  A. First, pull the crown out to the time-setting position and turn the hands clockwise until the date changes, stopping immediately at this point (which corresponds to 24 midnight). If setting the watch before 12 noon, turn the hour and minute hands clockwise to the required time; if setting after 12 noon, turn the hour and minute hands anti-clockwise to the required time.

  B. Use the quick-set corrector button to adjust the date and day display to the required date and day of the week.

  C. The day wheel changeover is permitted to complete within 4 hours after the date changes.

  D. For single-calendar watches, do not use the quick-set corrector button between 11 pm and 1 am every night. For day-date watches, do not use the quick-set corrector button between 11 pm and 5 am every night.
