Guide to Long Power Reserve Watches
The power that drives a mechanical watch is stored in an internally wound mainspring. When fully wound, a standard mechanical watch has enough stored power to keep running for approximately 48 hours.
A watch with a power reserve of 72 hours or more is referred to as a long power reserve watch.
Long power reserve watches were first introduced by Blancpain in 1990, with a power reserve of 8 days.
Currently, the watch with the longest power reserve is the Hublot Masterpiece collection 905.ND.0001.RX, boasting a power reserve of up to 50 days.
