Popularity does not necessarily mean suitability: understand the drawbacks before choosing a watch
In recent years, many people have taken a liking to large-dial watches. It is not just men; many women also enjoy wearing them, such asReplica IWC Pilot series watch, which look bold and masculine on men, while on women they appear cool and have a unique appeal, much like a woman wearing her boyfriend's white shirt. However, trends are trends, and not everyone can pull off a large-dial watch. If you can tolerate the drawbacks of a large dial, then why not give it a go?

1, watches feel heavy due to their size. They can feel very uncomfortable when first worn, dragging on the wrist, and you may even feel fatigued just by raising your arm. You should know that a watch with a diameter of 44mm and a metal bracelet can weigh nearly 150. Therefore, the weight alone may deter many people from the idea of wearing a large-dial watch.
2, because large-dial watches are bulky and have prominent crowns, they can often dig into the wrist, resulting in slightly reduced comfort.
3, they have poor shock resistance. After all, being large means they are not as compact as smaller models, and the movement is easily damaged if subjected to external shocks or vibrations.
4, are large-dial watches large in every aspect? Not necessarily. Some large-dial watches use small movements fitted with modules to enlarge them, adding features like moon phases, power reserves, or chronographs. This is akin to a small horse pulling a heavy cart, increasing the transmission load and easily leading to various malfunctions.
5, because of their size, they are more prone to knocks and bumps. The exterior components of such large watches are often unique, making it difficult to find identical spare parts once they are damaged.
6, some uniquely shaped or arched watches have poor water-resistant sealing, making them prone to water ingress.
7, because large watches are a selling point, their prices are often less reasonable.
Of course, having said all that, it does not mean large-dial watches are without merit. Everything has its pros and cons, like a double-edged sword; it is a matter of how you weigh the trade-offs. Furthermore, when choosing the size of a watch, the most important thing is to consider your own circumstances. Generally, 33-40mm for men's watches and 20-30mm for women's watches are more appropriate. For Asians, this range is ergonomically sound.
