Mechanical watch immune to radio interference
Russian media recently reported that the Russian military has decided to reinstate the use ofMechanical watch。

According to Izvestia, Zlatoust Watch Factory has begun supplying diving watches to the Ministry of Defence's diving and special forcesDiving watch(model 192CHS). General Manager Viktor Fironov revealed that this is the factory's first military contract since 1972. In those days, Zlatoust watches were standard issue and a symbol for personnel in the Soviet Navy's diving units.
Fironov explained: "The advantage of a precision mechanical watch lies in its immunity to interference from radio-electronic systems. A precision mechanical watch remains the most reliable source of objective information and cannot fail due to external interference. Perhaps that is why the Ministry of Defence is paying attention to our watches once again."

Fironov noted: "The military commissioned a more standard stainless steel version. Production is very limited, at just 100 to 150 pieces per month. These watches use the same movement as the more expensive models. The watch can function at depths of up to 700 metres, with a daily variance within 60 seconds and a power reserve of 29 hours."

When discussing the military, one must mention Panerai watches, also hailing from an Italian military brand. ThisReplica Panerai watchfeatures a beautiful display caseback design (a delicate and stable movement originally intended for pocket watches is used here in a wristwatch), a torpedo seconds hand, a crown guard bridge, and a cut-out sandwich dial—it has everything it should. Powered by a manual-winding mechanical movement, its 100-metre water resistance opens up even more possibilities.
Viktor Murakhovsky, editor-in-chief of the magazine Arsenal of the Fatherland, stated that mechanical watches play an important role in modern armed forces. He said: "Every major military conflict today begins with electronic warfare interference. That is why, to this day, mechanical clocks are fitted on all our armoured vehicles and aircraft instrument panels. Initial topographic training for officers and commanders at all levels inevitably begins with synchronising watches. Mechanical watches can then be used in the field to determine position and calibrate electronic navigators."
