Great news! Panerai watches can finally pair harmoniously with formal business suits

PaneraiPublished
Panerai has traditionally presented an image of rugged toughness, projecting a large and substantial presence. Annual new releases typically showed little variation, focusing on subtle detail adjustments like index styles, dial colours, or materials, catering to a relatively niche audience. However, this pattern of minor tweaks has finally improved this year, as Panerai launched the ultra-thin Luminor Due collection featuring a newly designed movement. 'Due' means 'two' in Italian, denoting this line as a sub-collection of the classic Luminor range.

Panerai watchTraditionally presenting a rugged, bold aesthetic, Panerai timepieces convey a notably substantial and weighty presence. Annual releases usually feature minimal changes, offering slight tweaks to details such as index designs, dial colours, and case materials, appealing to a relatively specific clientele. However, this cycle of minor adjustments has finally changed this year with Panerai's release of the ultra-thin Luminor Due collection equipped with a new movement; 'Due' means 'two' in Italian, marking this as a distinct sub-collection under the Luminor series.

As a sub-collection, it nevertheless inheritsPanerai Luminor series watchestraditional aesthetics, yet significant effort has been invested in the case thickness, reducing it by approximately 40% compared to the original. This change finally allows the Panerai, which was previously unsuitable for formal wear, to be paired with a suit and tie.

Why are formal watches always ultra-thin? It is because a slim profile is better suited for formal wear with tight cuffs, whereas a bulky watch like a Panerai can only be described as massive. If you are wearing a suit, a thick case will make your cuffs bulge, which is neither attractive nor comfortable. The case thickness of the new Panerai Luminor DUE is 10.5mm; while not as slim as watches from other brands, compared toPanerai Luminor 1950 collectionthickness has been reduced by 40%, which is quite significant. The brand's intention is for Panerai to maintain its original style while being able to coexist harmoniously with business attire.

Currently, four LUMINOR DUE watches have been released, in two sizes and case materials. These are the red gold version 45mm automatic mechanical PAM00675, the red gold version 42mm manual mechanical PAM00677, the stainless steel version 45mm automatic mechanical PAM00674, and the stainless steel version 42mm manual mechanical PAM00676.
