Panerai across the Atlantic: Classique 2012

        The classic sailing world is preparing to welcome an absolutely outstanding inaugural alliance this year, marking the most high-profile event of the season. OFFICINEPanerai, the Italian sports haute horlogerie brand and long-time patron of classic sailing through the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge, has partnered with the Yacht Club de l'Atlantique for the Panerai Transat Classique 2012. This 1 regatta will see dozens of stunning classic sailing yachts 12 2 cast off to make their way across the Atlantic.  

        The yachts will set sail from Cascais, Portugal, home of the renowned Clube Naval de Cascais, bound for the Caribbean paradise of Barbados, sailing 4000 miles. These grand ladies of the sea can also accumulate points towards the final standings during two preliminary races, which are optional. Starting from Douarnenez in Brittany (2012 7 22) and Saint-Tropez (2012 10 25), the entire fleet will gather in Cascais before embarking on the transatlantic race.

        Nearly 40 yachts have entered the Panerai Transat Classique, including some of the most famous names in maritime history, such as Pen Duick II, Moonbeam IV, Mariquita and Blue Peter. The winner will be awarded a Panerai Special Edition watch (500 pieces), engraved with the logo of the Panerai Transat Classique 2012 on the caseback.
