How do I replace the battery when my Longines watch runs out of power?
The battery life of most Swiss quartz watches is around 2-3 years. When the battery power is low, it affects the accuracy of the timekeeping, so it needs to be replaced promptly. Generally, Longines quartz watches will provide a notification 1 to 10 days in advance. So, how do you replace the battery when your Longines watch runs out of power? Watch Home will tell you below!
How to replace the battery in a Longines watch
When replacing a Longines battery, you should use the original model as specified. Do not attempt to restore power to an old battery by charging or heating it. If your watch requires frequent battery replacements, you should have the circuit checked for potential issues.
Longines battery national standard QB 578-81. Battery models are coded using six characters based on diameter, height, and electrolyte type. The first character represents the battery type (e.g., Y for zinc-silver batteries). The second and third characters represent the diameter, omitting the decimal point. The fourth and fifth characters represent the height, including the decimal point. The sixth character represents the electrolyte; sodium hydroxide is indicated by an N, while M represents zinc-manganese batteries. If potassium hydroxide is used, no letter is noted, and it can be omitted. For example, if a zinc-silver battery has an outer diameter of 0 11.6 mm, a height of 4.2 mm, and uses sodium hydroxide electrolyte, it is denoted as 1142 N.
