　　1. Opening the case back

　　The vast majority of watch case backs are screw-down; how to open them requires a case opener or case key. When using a case opener, you can turn the case back slightly in the tightening direction first, then turn it in the loosening direction. If the case back is very tight, you can apply a drop of lubricating oil around the perimeter and leave it for a while before unscrewing it. For press-fit case backs, make sure your thumbs apply appropriate and even pressure on the correct areas when pressing.

　　2. Disassembling internal components such as the movement

　　Gently lever the movement out of the case from the stem using a wooden peg or toothpick, remove the movement with the dial and hands attached, flip the movement over, and hold it using the following method. Unscrew 2 movement retaining ring screws using a screwdriver (one on the left and one on the right).

　　3. Removing the retaining ring
