The renowned Swiss watch brand Tissot, as a leader in global watchmaking, has been officially appointed as the official timekeeper for the 17th Asian Games Incheon. The Games will be held in Incheon, South Korea, from 9 19 to 4 10, 2014.

The origins of the Asian Games date back to 1951, and it is one of the oldest and most important events organised by the Olympic Council of Asia. Held every four years, the event provides a competitive platform for 13,000 elite athletes from 45 countries and regions to test their sporting prowess across 36 events. The Asian Games is the comprehensive sports meeting with the largest number of participating athletes globally. Alongside traditional sports such as swimming, athletics, basketball, and cycling, the Asian Games also features traditional Asian sports such as sepak takraw, wushu, and kabaddi.

Mr Kim Young-soo, President of the Incheon Asian Games Organizing Committee (IAGOC), stated: “ In order to provide the most precise timing services across different events, we chose Tissot as our partner—a brand with a profound heritage in sports. Tissot has developed tailored timing solutions for every sport, which is indispensable for a grand event like the Asian Games. Aside from serving as the official timekeeper for MotoGP, the FIM Superbike World Championship, FIBA, the Australian Football League (AFL), and the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), World Championships in cycling, fencing, and ice hockey also entrust their vital timing and data processing duties to this globally renowned Swiss watchmaker. In addition, Tissot previously served as the official timekeeper for the Asian Games in 1998, 2002, and 2006. For Tissot, this is an exceptional platform to showcase its precise timing capabilities to the world.
Tissot President François·Thiébaud stated: “The Asian Games integrate multiple individual sports and are extremely dynamic, which allows Tissot to merge with the spirit of the Asian Games and present it perfectly through the platform of the Asian Games. We are very proud to showcase our comprehensive timekeeping capabilities at such an extraordinary sporting event. Moreover, we can prove that we possess the most precise timekeeping technology and further demonstrate the high-end quality of Tissot products to the world. We have provided timekeeping services for the Asian Games before, so we know exactly what needs to be done. However, we will continue to work hard, striving for precision and innovation in every event, and improving every fundamental aspect, which is the key to the success of the Asian Games. Similarly, we hold a meticulous attitude towards every single watch. We will always keep in mind Tissot's brand philosophy ‘Innovators by Tradition’.”
Actively engaging and participating in these sporting events also allows watch enthusiasts around the world to gain a deeper understanding of Tissot. Whether they are watching television broadcasts or cheering on-site while wearing limited-edition watches launched by Tissot for the matches, it brings Tissot closer to them.
In the coming years, Tissot will work hand in hand with the Incheon Asian Games Organizing Committee, supported wholeheartedly by volunteers and partners from all walks of life. Without their support, the grand event could not possibly proceed smoothly. Tissot expresses its most sincere respect to those who dedicate themselves to this grand event. Furthermore, Tissot will share the fundamental services of the Games with them and ensure the smooth staging of the 17th Asian Games in 2014.
