IWC has achieved many special statuses in the Swiss watchmaking industry and holds a pivotal position in global watch manufacturing. Nowadays, the IWC Pilot is a rather popular timepiece. Before buying, would you like to know how to wind an IWC Pilot's watch? Below, the editor explains the winding method for IWC Pilot's watches for your reference.

Winding method for IWC Pilot's watches
Currently, the methods for setting the time on IWC Classic Pilot's series watches are broadly divided into mechanical and quartz watches

Pulling the crown out to the first click adjusts the day and date, and pulling it out to the second click adjusts the time.
First, when 24, if the hands are in the second half of the dial and the time is between 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock in the evening, do not adjust the date, as this may damage the date driving wheels. First set the time outside of 10 to 2 o'clock in the evening. Then pull the crown out one click to adjust the date; for example, if today is the 26, you should set the date to the 25. Next, pull it out another click and adjust the hands so that the date jumps to the 26. Then adjust to the correct time. (If it is morning, turn the hour hand less than one full revolution; if it is afternoon, you need to turn it more than 1 revolutions, letting the hour hand pass the 24 o'clock mark.) You must ensure that the 24 o'clock matches the actual time.

For watches without a date display, pull out the crown when the second hand reaches the 12 o'clock position and rotate it clockwise to adjust the time. If there is no second hand, for the sake of accuracy, you can set the minute hand two minutes ahead of the desired time, then push the crown back in once the time is set.
For watches with a date display, pull the crown out slightly to adjust the day by rotating it clockwise and the date by rotating it counter-clockwise. Pull the crown out to the furthest position to adjust the time; the operation is the same as for watches without a date display.

Review:In the early days of human aviation history, watches designed specifically for flying were very rare, so most pilots had to rely on pocket watches. IWC led the era by creating the first special edition Pilot's Watch in 1936, equipped with a solid glass crystal and a rotating bezel with an arrow-shaped index to record short durations. Furthermore, the watch featured an anti-magnetic escapement system as well as high-contrast, clearly legible luminescence hands and numerals. This model is the extremely famous Mark 9. Later, the IWC Pilot's series served more flight forces, such as the Big Pilot's Watch manufactured by 1940 for the German Air Force. The Mark series and the Big Pilot have been passed down to this day, and the Mark series has continued without interruption, making every model a classic.
