Appreciation of the IWC Aquatimer Automatic 2000 watch
IWCThe elegant taste that the appearance brings, with its large dial and minimalist design, often projects a refined and stylish image. As IWC's sports model, the Aquatimer Automatic 2000 has a clean look with sharp colours and lines, giving a highly reliable impression that is simple, steady, and approachable. Next, let us appreciate this sports watch together.
Introduction to the IWC Aquatimer Automatic 2000 Watch
We know that diving requires scuba equipment to allow humans to stay underwater, making it an extreme sport with limited time. In addition to professional diving gear, a reliable diving watch is indispensable. There are many types of watches on the market, and IWC has rich experience in case manufacturing. The Aquatimer 2000 series, as the name suggests, can withstand the pressure of 2000 metres of ocean depth. As the king of water resistance in the Aquatimer series, inheriting such excellent lineage, wearing it will certainly enhance your professional appreciation of watches. Although one might imagine that wearing an IWC makes you look like a dashing and handsome gentleman, the sporty feel of this Aquatimer Automatic 2000 is equally captivating. Each index number on the rotating bezel has an underline beneath it, adding a dynamic touch.
In 1982, IWC produced the Ocean 2000 for PORSCHE DESIGN. Featuring a titanium case and water resistance down to 2000M, it became highly coveted by collectors, which is why the Ocean 2000 is rarely seen on the pre-owned watch market even today.
The Aquatimer Automatic 2000 has a case diameter of 44mm. This size provides a grand sense of space for the dial layout, while the colour scheme and design still align with IWC's minimalist fashion sense. Rectangular hour markers sit one by one on the white dial, and the width ratio of the hour and minute hands gives a mature and steady feel. The large case diameter design is actually intended for easier reading when diving. The newly developed rotating bezel replaces the previous inner ring; this change is a major feature of the 2009 IWC Aquatimer series. The large hour marker design is generous and already very appealing. The newly developed rotating bezel features a combination of blue and green, and the luminescent colour of the hour markers on the dial seems to carry a hint of blue within the green. This rotating diving outer bezel with "background illumination" is an impressive design by IWC engineers: inside the multi-functional outer bezel is a 4mm wide sapphire crystal ring, with a concentrated Super-LumiNova® luminescent coating applied to the underside, making it particularly suitable for night diving.
On the official website, you can see four styles combining two dials with two straps. The black dial paired with yellow markers and the 1/4 combination on the rotating bezel highlights the bright yellow, making it highly eye-catching. The white dial combination emphasises a minimalist beauty that is calm and grounded. Personally, I prefer the yellow and black paired with a metal bracelet, and the white dial paired with a black rubber strap. Technically speaking, bright yellow is only filtered out and becomes invisible at extreme depths underwater, making it an important special design. This colourway is the second model of the Aquatimer 2000 Automatic watch, featuring a white dial as the main body, a white 1/4 rotating outer bezel paired with orange numerals, and the hour hand, hour markers, and the tip of the seconds hand are all in orange.
The series name "Aquatimer" also appears on the dial in small font for the first time. This model is also paired with a rubber strap, which is slightly different from the black rubber strap mentioned above, featuring a textured grid pattern on the strap. Orange and blue are complementary colours, which can highly highlight personal style. This is the white dial, black and orange metal bracelet version, each having its own charm, but the author still prefers the combination with the black rubber strap. The white dial paired with orange hour hands and hour markers, combined with the black rubber strap, makes the sporty style of this watch look best with the black rubber strap, even if one usually appreciates metal bracelet models more. Speaking of straps and bracelets, we should mention IWC's stainless steel bracelet system and the black rubber strap with a pin buckle. The Aquatimer features an innovative quick-change bracelet system, where the locking mechanism on the protected inner side of the bracelet or strap can be pressed open with a finger, allowing the bracelet or strap to be changed in just a few seconds. An optional buckle-type extension strap is also available, which is the kind of extension bracelet designed for convenience when wearing over a diving suit.
The equipment of the Aquatimer Automatic 2000 diving watch continues the precedent of the series. This model is similarly equipped with the calibre 30110 automatic movement, and pulling out the crown stops the seconds hand for adjustment. The caseback design is quite solid because the water resistance can reach 2000M. To resist the powerful pressure underwater, it protrudes significantly from the main case body, which is a special design for the screw-in caseback.
On both sides, you can see the "quick release button" that allows you to quickly replace the bracelet with a press of a finger. The 30110 automatic winding movement is modified by IWC based on the ETA 2892A2, featuring a bidirectional automatic winding function and an eccentric screw fine-adjustment device. It has a thickness of only 3.6mm, contains 21 ruby jewels, features a date display, and pulling out the crown stops the seconds hand for adjustment. Key components of the watch, such as the mainspring, hairspring, and gear train, all use the highest grade or proprietary specifications of the manufacturer to improve running stability and accuracy. Therefore, its grade is much higher than a standard ETA 2892A2, and the finishing on the movement surface is also of a high standard.
Having seen this, I would like to recommend a popular bestseller among IWC watches. If you would like to know more, please add WeChat for enquiries.
