How to choose between the IWC Portuguese Seven Days and Portuguese Chronograph?
In the current replica watch market, if we talk about the most popular IWC models, they are undoubtedly the Portuguese Seven Days and the Portuguese Chronograph. So what are the differences between these two watches? When choosing a watch, how should one decide between the Portuguese Seven Days and the Portuguese Chronograph? For watch enthusiasts who are still hesitating, have a look at some of my thoughts below.
First, let us look at the basic parameters of the IWC Portuguese Seven Days and Portuguese Chronograph.

IWC Portuguese Seven DaysBasic Parameters:

Case Thickness: 14 mm
Case Material: Stainless steel
Dial Material: Silver-plated
Crystal Material: Sapphire crystal glass, double anti-reflective convex sapphire crystal watch glass
Crown material: stainless steel
Strap material: alligator leather
Case back: transparent case back
Water resistance: 30 metres
Commentary: The steel IWC Portugieser Seven-Day Power Reserve watch is a highly competitive timepiece in the 10 ten thousand yuan price range. Firstly, it uses the IWC in-house 51011 automatic movement, which employs the Pellaton automatic winding system to provide a seven-day power reserve, affectionately known by IWC fans as the "woodpecker". Currently, the domestic retail price for this watch is 98000 RMB; IWC fans should not miss out.

IWC Portugieser ChronographBasic Parameters:
Case diameter: 40.9 mm
Case thickness: 12.3 mm
Case Material: Stainless steel
Dial material: rhodium-plated steel
Crystal: double-sided sapphire crystal glass
Strap material: alligator leather
Clasp type: pin buckle

Review: The watch is equipped with the Cal.79350 automatic movement. Although the base calibre is the ETA7750 movement, through IWC's meticulous finishing, its accuracy and level of decoration are fully comparable to an in-house movement. The current domestic retail price of this watch is: 58500 RMB.

What is the difference between the IWC Portugieser Seven Days and the Portugieser Chronograph?
1, the Seven Days features an ultra-long power reserve of 7 days, whereas the Chronograph only has 44 hours.
2, the Seven Days adopts IWC's in-house Pellaton movement, while the Chronograph uses a Swiss ETA movement that is subsequently modified.
3, the dial of the Seven Days is generally slightly larger than that of the Chronograph, whilst the Chronograph is slightly thinner than the Seven Days.
4, both the Seven Days feature a date function and a transparent case back design, whereas the Chronograph has no date and no display back, but the Chronograph includes a chronograph function which the Seven Days lacks.
5, generally the price of the Seven Days is higher than that of the Chronograph.

Brief Review of the IWC Portugieser Seven Days
The IWC 50000 calibre shapes the oversized dial of the Portugieser collection, and its minimalist design makes telling the time effortless at a glance. It features an elegant small seconds sub-dial and a 7-day power reserve display. It also incorporates new and advanced features, such as a convex sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective coating and a new screw-in sapphire crystal case back. All of these contribute to creating the perfect Portugieser 7-day watch.
The entire Portugieser collection adopts IWC's 50000 calibre. The greatest feature of the IWC 50000 movement is its oversized dial with striking markers, alongside a power reserve of up to 7 days. This series of movements is equipped with exceptional mechanisms unprecedented in automatic movements, including the highly renowned Pellaton winding system and a Breguet balance spring to ensure precision.

Brief Review of the IWC Portugieser Chronograph
The dial design of the watch is the classic Portugieser chronograph layout, with the small seconds sub-dial located at the 6 o'clock position, the 12 minute chronograph counter at the 30 o'clock position, and the central slender hand serving as the chronograph seconds hand. Much like the standard hour and minute hands, they all adopt blued steel hands for an aesthetic and stylish appearance.
This timepiece is crafted from stainless steel, and along the side we can see the crown and 2 chronograph push-pieces. The push-piece at the 2 o'clock position is used to start and pause the chronograph, while the 4 o'clock push-piece resets the chronograph, returning the hands to their initial positions awaiting the next timing operation.
The watch is fitted with a black alligator leather strap paired with a stainless steel deployant clasp, ensuring secure and comfortable wear. Once adjusted, the clasp makes subsequent wearing extremely convenient.

Conclusion:The IWC Portugieser Seven Days and Portugieser Chronograph are currently two of the most popular watches from IWC, easily standing out as their most striking models. However, the Portugieser Chronograph has 2 advantages over the Portugieser Seven-Day: first, the chronograph is thinner than the Seven-Day, and second, and most importantly, it is more affordable, which is why most enthusiasts choose the chronograph over the Seven-Day.
