Subdued luxury exclusive to men: A brief review of the IWC Portugieser IW500114
The excellence of the Portugieser series lies not only in its design, but more so in its high-quality movement and practical functions. The Portugieser 7-day power reserve watch introduced to you today uses the same movement as the series products in the previously written 'A Watch Only for Men! A Brief Review of the IWC Portugieser 7 IW500107 Watch'. The only difference is in the dial design: one uses younger and more fashionable blue hands, while today's model uses more mature and luxurious gold hands. Next, let's look at thisIWC IW500114 watchbrief review.

Brief review of the IWC Portugieser IW500114 watch movement:
The movement of this watch also originates from IWC's proud 50000 calibre. This series of movements is equipped with outstanding mechanisms unprecedented in automatic movements, including the highly renowned Pellaton winding system and a Breguet balance spring, ensuring its precision. Of course, another advantage of this movement is its extra-large space and oversized dial, making it easy to check the time at any moment.
Brief review of the exterior of the IWC Portugieser IW500114 watch:
One is the youthful and stylish IW500107, and the other is the mature and luxurious IW500114. Both watches adopt the same style with only slight differences in the hand colours, sharing the same 42.3 mm case diameter, date display, power reserve display, and small seconds display. If I really had to point out a flaw, I can only say that the blue-handed IW500107 is more suited for younger people, whereas the gold-handed IW500114 is better suited for slightly older individuals.
Picture appreciation of the IWC Portugieser IW500114 watch:

I think this picture is enough to illustrate the commanding presence of the IWC 50000 calibre; the oversized dial is indeed a pleasure to look at. Rather than adding cumbersome designs to the larger dial space, IWC opted for this minimalist design, which is more practical and aesthetically pleasing, while also winning the favour of watch enthusiasts.

Front view of the dial as a whole. Below the 12 o'clock position is the IWC logo, the 3 o'clock position features the power reserve subdial, the 6 o'clock position houses the date display function, and the 9 o'clock position is the small seconds subdial.

The crystal is made of double anti-reflective convex sapphire glass. Unfortunately, it seems I did not wipe it clean properly, as there are a few smudges on the small seconds subdial.

Thoughtfully designed with a subdial that turns red when the power reserve drops below two days. This function is not only practical but also adds a splash of colour to the dial design.

When I was photographing this watch, it was just about to run out of power and stop, although the IWC-claimed 7-day movement is said to run for 8 days when fully wound, it is just prone to inaccuracy by the final day.

A case thickness of 13.9 mm is considered rather thick for a wristwatch. In addition, the black alligator leather strap is also very thick and solidly crafted.

Another distinct feature of the Portuguese 7-day is the transparent case back.

The black alligator leather strap features exceptionally fine grain and texture, and will feel a little stiff when first worn.

The folding clasp is smooth and fluid.

Such a massive movement requires a robust body to support it. Take a look from the side at this movement, which is nearly 14 mm thick. Although somewhat thick, some enthusiasts are still infatuated with it, and of course, some users simply prefer watches with thick cases.

The outer rim of the case back is engraved with a serial number and notches for removal.

As the case back was not entirely clear at the time of photographing, the beauty of this movement cannot be fully displayed. Featuring a beryllium-copper alloy balance wheel and a total of 42 jewels set throughout the movement, it delivers not only all the functions you desire, but also precision timekeeping and durability.
Conclusion:The domestic retail price of this watch is approaching 100,000 RMB, having seen repeated price increases during last year's industry-wide surge, which only serves to highlight its popularity. Its oversized 44 millimetre case diameter, paired with a minimalist design, a practical 7-day power reserve, a date display and a black crocodile-leather strap, all contribute to an elegant, simple, and luxurious style. The editor recommends this timepiece for elite men aged 35 and above.
