How to clean Tissot watches? Tissot watch servicing and cleaning guide?
Tissot watches have a very large market share in China. Due to the high number of users, many issues can arise. Today, Watch Home will explain how to clean your Tissot watch!
For quartz watches, the battery life is generally 1 to 2 years, and batteries should be replaced regularly. When changing the battery, the gasket of the Tissot watch should also be replaced and tested for water resistance. Watches with an end-of-life battery indicator should have the battery changed within 3 weeks of the warning appearing. Watch cases and bracelets come in materials such as tungsten-titanium alloy, stainless steel, soft fabric, and ordinary steel. When wearing them, avoid friction and impact with objects of equal or greater hardness, and clean them regularly to maintain their decorative appeal.
Additionally, seawater, saltwater baths, perfume, shampoo, nail polish, nail polish remover, and other cosmetics containing chemicals can corrode the gold plating and metal surfaces of Tissot watches and should be avoided. Even if a Tissot watch is water-resistant, it cannot withstand all types of water; for instance, a 30-metre water resistance rating only protects against splashes from washing hands, face, rain, or car splashes. Activities like showering or swimming will certainly cause water ingress. Regardless of the depth rating, never wear a watch in a sauna, as the heat of the steam accelerates the ageing of the waterproof gaskets, failing to protect the movement properly.
Clean components using a watch cleaning machine. Cleaning parts with a machine is highly efficient. Cleaning solutions include petrol, alcohol, and trichloroethylene (F plus 13), etc. Use a trichloroethylene solution for cleaning plates. The cleaning machine commonly used in watch repair is a horological cleaning machine. It features speed regulation, time control, clockwise and anticlockwise work head rotation, and lifting functions. It also has three bottles containing cleaning solutions, which must be covered after cleaning to prevent evaporation and contamination. There is also an empty tub used for spin-drying the watch components. The first bottle holds a slightly dirty solution; the second holds a clean solution; and the third contains distilled water for rinsing and dehydration. Naturally, arrangements can be altered according to the specific process. To prevent parts from colliding and becoming damaged during cleaning, use copper wire mesh baskets of different shapes to hold different components. Place these baskets together and secure them with a framework for cleaning, allowing several watches to be cleaned at once. Watches with heavy sludge are best pre-cleaned to remove the grime before using the cleaning machine.
Cleaning a Tissot watch inevitably incurs certain costs, especially for Tissot watches valued in the tens of thousands, where servicing fees are even higher. Depending on the quality of the Tissot watch, disassembly and cleaning fees vary. For instance, for an ordinary Omega watch, the dismantling and cleaning fee is 770 yuan, whilst for a gold watch, it is 800 yuan or more. According to watch industry association regulations, for watches valued over ten thousand yuan, a inspection fee of one-thousandth of the Tissot watch's grade and price is added on top of the cleaning fee. Mechanical watches that are not worn long-term should still be wound regularly to keep the movement turning.
