The 'prey' every man dreams of: Military watches

Deep within every man's soul lies a military fascination, one that seems innate. On the battlefield, the true heroic nature of a man is fully realised. Whether it is the decisive nature of a soldier, their rock-solid composure, or their absolute obedience to orders, these shining military qualities have inspired Army Day and numerous war-themed films and television works, paying high tribute to soldiers!

When the military fascination combines with mechanical craftsmanship, it releases an infinite amount of masculine energy, creating an unprecedented sense of ruggedness and wildness. The military watch has undoubtedly become the 'prey' that every man dreams of.

In the 20s and 30s of the 40th century, Radiomir and Luminor were merely the names of different luminous materials. To improve the watch's legibility at night and underwater for Italian Navy commandos, Panerai incorporated these two materials into the dial design. The Panerai LUMINOR SUBMERSIBLE 1950 3 DAYS AUTOMATIC TITANIO is the first watch to feature the transition from the Radiomir to the Luminor case. The 47mm brushed titanium case, combined with Panerai's iconic rounded cushion shape, is classic and imposing.

Rolex Deepsea series 116660-98210 watch, the 44mm DLC-coated case features a black rotatable ceramic bezel and a special military fixing plate. The dial uses deep sea blue to symbolise the navy. It is water-resistant to 3900 metres / 12800 feet and employs a spring-loaded helium escape valve to protect the watch from damage.

Commissioned by French naval officersBlancpain Fifty Fathoms, with its professional diving functions and precise timekeeping, became standard equipment for the French Navy, beginning its historic mission of assisting French combat divers in carrying out all arduous and hazardous underwater military operations! Firstly, the double 'O'-ring seals on the crown of the Fifty Fathoms better protect the watch against seepage in various underwater conditions; secondly, the case back features special metal grooves designed to house the screw-down back 'O'-ring, providing double-layered isolation for strict water resistance; meanwhile, the lockable unidirectional rotating graduated bezel, used for checking dive time and remaining oxygen reserves, ensures precise control over underwater environmental data, providing divers with a reliable basis for judgement.
