In 2000, the appearance of j12, designed by artistic director Jacques Helleu, broke the image that Chanel watches were exclusively for women. j12 takes a unisex route, serving as a sports watch for both men and women, and representing the best combination of classic design style and the most advanced ceramic technology.
In 2005, the "J12" watch collection launched its first high-tech precision ceramic tourbillon watch, thus stepping into the field of haute horlogerie and high-complication watchmaking. This year, Chanel has introduced a new fine jewellery watch with a bezel set with 46 baguette-cut diamonds, with a total diamond weight reaching 4.5 carats, representing the pinnacle of complicated watchmaking. This tourbillon jewellery watch features a case and bracelet in white high-tech precision ceramic and 18K white gold, powered by the manual-winding movement "Chanel 05-T.1" with a power reserve of 100 hours, perfectly combining watchmaking tradition and high technology, with a worldwide limit of 12 pieces.
In 2008, Chanel and Audemars Piguet joined forces for the first time, launching the J12 latest high-end timepiece—the J12 Calibre 3125. This watch marked the first time an Audemars Piguet Haute Horlogerie top-tier movement was adopted. Audemars Piguet boasts a long-standing watchmaking craftsmanship, focusing on details and complementing masterclass watchmaking technology with elegant, flowing lines; utilising an Audemars Piguet movement allows the Chanel watch to be even more consummate.
