5 checks to identify a watch's authenticity
1. Inspecting the exterior components of the watch:The exterior of a watch can be inspected by looking at the case, crystal, dial, and the hour, minute, and second hands. The case should be free of pinholes and obvious scratches, with symmetrical edges. The seal between the case back and the main case should be tight. The distance between the two lugs and the case should be equal, and the spring bar holes should be centred at the ends of the lugs with appropriate depth to prevent the strap from detaching. The crystal should be free of defects and scratches, transparent and bright. The three hands should be installed correctly, with proper clearance between the hands themselves and between the crystal and the dial. The dial and hand plating should be smooth and clean, without blemishes, and the dial markers or luminescence should be intact. There should be a gap of approximately 0.1–0.3mm between the crown and the case.
