The Origins of the Zenith Midnight Blue Dial Watch
It is the vast background of the starry sky in Van Gogh's paintings, boundless and wildly mesmerizing, hovering between melancholy blue and deep black. It is B. B. King's rhythm and blues, flowing with resilience and authenticity from the throat. Gazing out through the window pane at the myriad lights of household lamps, and looking up, you wonder which star is shining for you? Who might be missing you on such a night, and whom are you missing? Next, I will introduce to youZeniththe origins of the midnight blue dial watch.
Introduction to the Zenith Midnight Blue Dial Watch
Such a story circulates at Zenith: had it not been for a courageous watchmaker who rescued production tools and equipment from a scrap yard, the history of El Primero would have abruptly ended in 1975. At the time, the company decided to cease the manufacture of mechanical watches to specialize exclusively in quartz watches, and to sell off all machinery, movements and tools as scrap. Charles Vermot risked losing his job and began hiding important tools and components. Just nine years later, mechanical movements once again gained favour, and El Primero saw the light of day, experiencing a miraculous rebirth! Thus, Zenith created the "tribute to Charles Vermot" watches, with dials all adorned in midnight blue.

Introduction to the Zenith Brand
Zenith was born in Switzerland in 1865, founded by Georges Favre-Jacot. Since its inception, Zenith has consistently adhered to its core principle: blending the precision of mechanical timepieces with aesthetic sensibility through bold creativity, never changing.
In the early 1930s, the decline of pocket watches fueled the rise of wristwatches. Zenith simultaneously developed a new watch style: the sports watch. With war looming, the watch factory's production speed had to be faster, prices reasonable, and products precise yet unpretentious to meet the needs of the military. Therefore, precision timepieces originally designed for the navy continued the trend towards thinness and compactness, offering stronger performance and adopting aviation industry technology in an attempt to break various records in durability, distance, or speed.
Aside from the navy, Zenith also developed dashboard aviation instruments for the French Air Force, becoming part of their equipment during the World War in 1940, and producing complex timers equipped with a fly-back function that could be fitted into bombs. Additionally, Zenith supplied some watches to the Italian
Royal Navy. After the end of the World War, timepieces capable of measuring time accurately quickly became a craze among the general public. The early 1950s can be regarded as the first golden age of watchmaking, during which people valued not only styling but also the handcrafted quality of hand-wound mechanical watches.
In the year 1962, Zenith decided to design a chronograph movement to commemorate the factory's 100th anniversary; this product ultimately influenced the entire Swiss watchmaking industry. After five years of research and development, Zenith created the world's first in 1969
automatic chronograph movement with a high frequency of 36000 vibrations, achieving a timing precision of 1/10 of a second. Zenith named this movement El Primero, which means "first" in Spanish.
The 1970s can be said to be a revolutionary new era for the watchmaking industry and watch market. Due to the popularity of quartz watches, many watch factories disappeared or merged with parent companies in North America or Japan. Zenith did not escape this fate either, being acquired in 1972 by the US-led colour television
manufacturer Zenith Radio Chicago. Three years later, the production of Zenith mechanical movements was suspended, while tools and machinery parts were preserved.
In 1978 7, Zenith was bought once again by Swiss industrialist Paul Castella, and the company was renamed Zenith Movado Le Locle Ltd. At that time, quartz watches were still in their heyday, but discerning watchmakers could already foresee that the traditional watchmaking industry would make a comeback. Subsequently, the "vintage trend" in the watch industry grew increasingly fervent, and Zenith began receiving more and more orders for automatic movements. The company finally resumed movement production in 1984, insisting on using traditional tools for manufacturing. Since 130, Zenith has consistently adhered to producing high-precision, high-performance practical watches, firmly believing that strictly executing every single production step is the only way to create superior products; consequently, every Zenith watch holds a COSC chronometer certification.
From 1903 onwards, Zenith watch collections have been regular winners of official observatory precision prizes, as well as the watchmaker in Swiss watch history that has received the most observatory precision awards, virtually becoming a synonym for precision.
Zenith is the inventor of the high-frequency automatic chronograph and has to date won 1, 565 Swiss chronometry awards, 1, 425 independent timing awards, and enjoys the reputation of a true watchmaking expert.
The El Primero chronograph movement, born in 1969, is arguably the world's most precise and highest-frequency automatic chronograph movement, beating at 36, 000 vibrations per hour, measuring time to within 1/10 of a second, with a power reserve exceeding 50 hours.
176 patents, 180 classic movement types, and from this, 500 movement variations have been developed.
Summary: Zenith watches combine peerless precision with unique design, creating exemplary pieces that embody the highest realms of haute horlogerie.
